Two and a Half Men vs. American Family Association
It hasn't been a good week for television-watching Christians. First, the Parent's Television Council drops the bomb that Fox has gone to number one with a bullet in the Christian-mocking competition, and now, Two and a Half Men has gone and crapped all over a Christmas carol. On the December 11th episode of Two and a Half Men, Charlie Sheen sang a "vulgar adaptation" of "Joy to the World." The American Family Association is demanding an apology for these altered lyrics:
Joy to the world, I'm getting laid;
I'm getting laid tonight.
We'll light the yule log, deck the halls and then we'll play some jingle balls.
It's been a real long wait;
this is our second date!
It's Christmas Eve, and I'm getting laid.
Sheen's character also had a take on the Christmas hymn "Gloria." As in, "Glo-oh-oh-oh-oh-ria, tonight I'm boinking Gloria!"
Donald E. Wildmon, chairman of the AFA, has accused CBS and its sponsors for paying Sheen to "mock Christ, Christmas and Christians." The AFA has called on its members to execute the traditional boycott and letter-writing campaign combo. Really, they shouldn't be so pissed about the fact that the song mocks Christmas. They should be pissed that it's not funny. Humor-wise, it's got nothing on the Christmas-themed "Dick in a Box."
