Stuart Damon axed from General Hospital

by Bob Sassone, posted Dec 22nd 2006 2:30PM

Stuart DamonI haven't seen a minute of General Hospital in over 10 years. In the 80s when everyone was talking about how great this soap was, I was busy watching Guiding Light, which I guarantee you was a better show (even though I only saw a few episodes of General Hospital). But Stuart Damon is a fairly well-known actor, and it's interesting to see he's being let go from the show in February (click here if you want to see how his Alan Quartermaine character will vanish from the show).

Damon has been with the show since 1977 (!) but he's been acting in TV and movies for a really long time, way back to the mid-60s. He's been in episodes of The Saint, UFO, Thriller, Space: 1999, Mike Hammer, Fantasy Island, Diagnosis Murder, and Strong Medicine, as well as movies like Star 80, so I'm sure he won't be looking for work for long. I bet he shows up on another soap.

Brian Fronz and the powers that be need a wake up call and they are going to get one when the ratings go South now that Stuart Damon is off the show. I've been a GH fan as long as I can remember but I'm not into the new generation GH. You keep killing off the old cast and you just killed the whole show.

I remember Allan when he played the prince on the original Cinderella. I always thought he and Monica would be the next Lila and Edward. They don't need a lot of lines to make an impact, just his presence would have made us wounder if Jason would ever come home again and be his son. While the kids have aged weekly, its nice to see the main cast age along with us.

That was one big mistake letting Stuart go. I just turned 60 and have been watching GH for 1/2 my life. The older characters and their families are what keep people interested and coming back. No one likes replacements or all these new young people. It would be better to bring Laura back permanently and keep Anna & Robert, but like they were before, not the wishy-washy way they are now. Like they say...if it's not broke, don't fix it.

Stuart Damon is a great actor, to bad writers didn't and don't write parts for him and the others that are the staples of the shows. Shame on you writers and producers for letting such great talents languish !

The Quartermaines are the foundation of the show and Alan is awesome. I have gotten to know him so well and love him so much. He IS General Hospital. I don't really have time to watch it anymore anyway so this is the final straw. It's been real.

This is totally unreal! I have been watching GH for 31 years and one of the best things about it is the foundation of the older actors. You get to know them so well and look forward to seeing them. I can't imagine not seeing Alan! Wow, it just blows me away that you would even consider getting rid of someone who is such a major part of the show. The

I was so shocked to hear of Alan Quartermaine character. I watched GH until I got so sick of the 'gangster' stuff. Sonny, Jason, and Sam. It is over and over and over, 24,7.

Change the story line for God's sake. Enough of this stagnant group.

WATCHING STUART DAMON'S CHARACTER Alan Quartermaine BITE THE DUST WAS HEART WRENCHING. GH MADE A HUGE MISTAKE AND I'M TIRED OF SEEING THE CRIMINAL ELEMENT ON THAT SHOW TAKE TOP PRIORITY. I THINK IT'S TIME TO RETIRE THE OLD HORSE FOREVER.

What ashame...getting rid of the great characters that made GH so great a soap opera. I am totally depressed...I loved Alan's character but I agree with the others, he should have had more lines!
Oh well...thank you Alan for all those years on GH! You will be missed!
