Stephen Colbert: An Entertainer of the Year
Every year, Entertainment Weekly picks their "Entertainers of the Year," and this year's list includes inevitable choices like Sacha Baron Cohen and YouTube, plus odd choices like Project Runway. Also on the list is Stephen Colbert, and also "Stephen Colbert," the character he plays on The Colbert Report. EW has an interview with the star and his alter-ego.
Colbert talks about everything from his infamous speech at the White House Corresondent's Dinner to getting Warren Beatty and Annette Bening to act confused on his show. He also introduces us to his new word for 2007. It's "Colbertainment," as in Colbertainment Weekly.
I have to admit that when The Colbert Report first started, I thought his "character" would get old really quick, something that was good for here and there or for a limited time but nothing a comedian could sustain and grow over a period of time. But I was wrong. I was wrong about NBC's remake of The Office too, so these things happen.
