Stephen Colbert: An Entertainer of the Year

by Bob Sassone, posted Dec 24th 2006 7:03PM

Stephen ColbertEvery year, Entertainment Weekly picks their "Entertainers of the Year," and this year's list includes inevitable choices like Sacha Baron Cohen and YouTube, plus odd choices like Project Runway. Also on the list is Stephen Colbert, and also "Stephen Colbert," the character he plays on The Colbert Report. EW has an interview with the star and his alter-ego.

Colbert talks about everything from his infamous speech at the White House Corresondent's Dinner to getting Warren Beatty and Annette Bening to act confused on his show. He also introduces us to his new word for 2007. It's "Colbertainment," as in Colbertainment Weekly.

I have to admit that when The Colbert Report first started, I thought his "character" would get old really quick, something that was good for here and there or for a limited time but nothing a comedian could sustain and grow over a period of time. But I was wrong. I was wrong about NBC's remake of The Office too, so these things happen.

Now, now, there are plenty of male fans of the persuasion that might be attracted to Stephen.

Just so you know, you're not the only one who has noticed that undershirt -

And the person that manages to put the high-res pic of that EW pic up online will be the hero of fangirls everywhere. Well, that and this pic -

And to all the male readers of this blog, we really do like Stephen for his scathing political satire and witty commentary on modern pop culture. Seriously!

There always seems to be something big that keeps Colbert of The Colbert Report fresh. White House Correspondents Dinner... Greenscreen Challenge... The Decemberists... etc. You have to wonder what's next.

Colbert is the true heir to the title of Late Night King of Comedy.

Ooh! You HAVE GOT to post the picture that accompanies the article (not the online one). It's positively amazing...
