Ask TV Squad: When are shows returning from hiatus?

by Richard Keller, posted Jan 2nd 2007 1:33PM

Law & Order: SVU Title PageGreetings, TV Squad readers! It is I, Schedule Boy, here to answer an email posed by Christopher Cope:

Hey, I was just wondering if you could possibly do an article on when all the shows are starting up again. I'm trying to find it all out on my own, but there are just so many that I need to remember.

Fear not, young Christopher, for such an article was posted a few weeks ago. You can find the complete list by clicking on this link. As you will see a good many shows will be returning to the schedule as early as this week, with new episodes of Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Law & Order: SVU premiering tonight. Most Thursday night shows will also be returning this week with new episodes. That includes popular shows like Ugly Betty, ER, The Office, Scrubs, and C.S.I.

You'll also notice the return dates of some of television's heavy hitters like 24 (Jan 14th), American Idol (Jan 16th), Battlestar Galactica (Jan 21st), Lost (February 7th) and Jericho (February 21st). And, you're in luck, because the list has just been updated with return dates for NCIS, Saturday Night Live and One Tree Hill.

Schedule Boy. Out!

When, oh when, is Six Degrees returning from hiatus? I've searched all the returning shows and no mention of Six Degrees. Thank you.

These dates seem off, at least for CBS.

Last night was a new Without a Trace, and this Wednesday is a new Criminal minds, both listed next week instead of this as the starting.

Elle:
I love your idea, I'd be tempted to do it myself, but I have a lot of work to do myself.

Richard:
Thank you very much for the link and prompt response, unfortunately though, I'm not so young.

Word. Amen. Eureka! Where has this been all my life? I love the idea of a public Google calendar - or an RSS or anything that would unlock the mystery of when shows are going to return from hiatus. The Closer, No Reservations, Dead Zone, Monk, all these weird schedules make it a major task!

According to the NBC web site, Studio 60 isn't coming back on January 8th -- they're airing a Heroes rerun instead. And the Golden Globes are on all night on the 15th. So maybe on the 22nd?

It would be great if you guys maintained a public google calendar of when new episodes of shows would be airing.

Any word on Supernatural yet? I've heard the 11th, but can't find anything official to confirm that.
