Amazon having big sale on TV DVDs

by Bob Sassone, posted Jan 5th 2007 3:32PM

BonesHere's some news to add on to our Holiday Loot spending guides we've been posting: Amazon is having a huge sale on FOX DVDs, some of them as much as 50% off. So now you can get those cool DVDs you asked someone to get you for Christmas but didn't get because someone got you socks or a McDonald's gift card instead.

For example, you can get the first season of Bones for only $24.97, which is 50% off the list price. A fan of Arrested Development? You can get the third season for only $18.00! You can also get seasons of The X-Files, M*A*S*H, Angel, and other titles. Of course, if you're already a fan of these shows you may have already bought them when they first came out. But I know a lot of people (like me) don't always buy the DVDs when they first go on sale. Unless it's the complete seasons of shows like The West Wing and The Twilight Zone, and then I go nutty.

Amazon always has discounts on their items, less than you'd pay in the store, but these prices are even bigger discounts than usual so it might be a good time to beef up your collection.

How I Met Your Mother and Bones are crippled, they don't include the original music. Hopefully this gets fixed for the HD-DVD releases which hopefully are released...
cause whats the point of recording and broadcasting in HD if you can't purchase it like that?

This one's pretty lame too, as many of the DVD sets ar the Slim Sets, with no extras.

Best Buy is having a good sale this week too. Bones was only 19.99 there. X Files were all 19.99 as well. Many others that weren't advertised.

Barnes & Noble.com is having a better sale. Buy 1 get 1 free on select TV DVDs. Hundreds to choose from including many in the Amazon sale. If you are a B&N member you get an additional 10% off.

The best sale EVER on DVDs was when BestBuy.com and Best Buy had a sale on every season of 24 for 19.99. Those are $50 plus sets for $20! Needless to say, I bought seasons 2-5 and I am soooo glad I had resisted buying them in the past.

Those prices really aren't that good. The whole series of AD was $35 before Christmas. Bones will be a $20 title soon enough.
