Green Wing: Christmas special (series finale)

(S03E01) I have been looking forward to this Special for a very long time and, I'm sorry to say, I was a little bit disappointed. Although many questions were answered, I didn't think there was enough substance to justify an hour and a half of television. The whole thing could have wrapped up very neatly in about thirty minutes, I think.I quite liked how we were initially lead to believe that Angela's funeral was actually Mac's and although the comment about hair got me going for a moment, I knew that the mourners would have been looking a lot more sad if it was the funeral of their beloved Mac.
Karen survived her fall from the window and returned in a clean pantsuit, slightly neater hair, and a prosthetic hand? That was weird. And Alan and Joanna kicked Martin out of the van, just like that? That was double-weird. What a cop-out to avoid explanation.
I thought it was adorable how much Boyce missed Alan and their petty little arguments. I also quite enjoyed Sue's oddly erotic Elvis serenade. As for Joanna and Alan's accidental killing spree? That was... okay, I guess. Their naked walk into the water was a sweet way to end that story, though.
I always knew that Green Wing would end with Caroline and Mac together again. Of course, I didn't expect Guy to play the hero for once and insist that Caroline and Mac wed, and I certainly didn't expect the story to wrap up before Mac's death. I have mixed feelings about the ending. Something just doesn't sit right and I'm not sure if anything can be done to make me feel better, even if we get an additional series.
With The Office Christmas Specials, I was left with a feeling of extreme content. I didn't want any more episodes to spoil it for me. I was happy with the ending, right then and there. However, with the Green Wing Special, I kind of feel like I've been cheated. I want to know more, but I'm not sure what else can be told. Everything has already been exhausted, I suppose, but it still doesn't feel like it's enough.
Oh, and Caroline's purple, fuzzy dress was terrible. It looked like something that would belong in her closet, sure, but I still would have liked to see her glammed up a bit for her wedding.
