Video of Steve Irwin's death to be destroyed

by Anna Johns, posted Jan 5th 2007 9:31AM
steve irwinAustralian police are doing everything possible to ensure that the video tape of Steve Irwin's death never becomes public. The officers who investigated the Crocodile Hunter's death have destroyed all copies of the video tape that shows him being stabbed in the chest by a stingray barb and dying. The original copy of the video has been handed over to Terri Irwin, Steve's widow. According to the Australian press, Terri plans to destroy the original copy because no one should ever have to see it.

I hope that this truly is the end of the videotape and I hope that the Australian police really did keep the tape tightly secure during their entire investigation. When I first heard that Irwin's death was filmed, I pictured it showing up on YouTube (like the Saddam hanging). Terri Irwin is right: that's not something that the public needs to see.

I think they are doing the right thing in not showing that tape...it would definately be devastating to the Erwin family....I say leave them to grieve in peace...god bless you Steve!!!

I predict that the tape will be leaked some time within the second half of this year. There is no way that someone didn't make a copy for themselves.

sure i wouldn't love to have a loveone death video on youtube , but once you become a TV Star you aren't a normal person anymore , you lose privcy , no one would want to see Paris hilton Sex tape if she wasn't on TV

If you don't want people to Check your every move and see every mistake you do , don't go into the spot light

If you can't stand the heat don't enter the kitchen

Steve Irwin was an amazing individual....he did not capture animals but rescued them from being harmed....he wasnt a croc hunter but a croc rescuer and anyone who says different hasnt spent anytime watching his shows or listening to his message. It is disgraceful to say his death should be shown to the animals he has captured....
His family and friends would be terribly hurt by such remarks. All the money he made he put back into rescuing animals and making a safe place for them nmot like a zoo but a habitat for them....he was amazing and will be missed by man and animal.

I don't understand.. Steven Irwin insist that it should be on broadcast? Isn't that his death wish?

I think they are doing exactly what should be done , Uless they was to use it later to educate what was unknown about stingrays , i mean not actually show the video but go into detail and teach what happened and how he died by viewing it .. I wouldnt never want to see it but i think it could be helpful if they made something to educate people on what not to do . He was good w/ animals and H e must not have known he was in danger ..So it could help

The video should never be viewed by anyone again. What a shameful thing to consider its public viewing.

Steve Irwins "death tape" should never be viewed by anyone. People need to think of how they would feel if they had a loved one die and a video of their death could show up on the internet for anyone to see? Its a horrible thought. Steve Irwins family should never have to go through that.
