Kids in the Hall honor the bass player - VIDEO
I hope this information won't make you think any less of me, but I'm a bass player. My parents didn't plan on having a bass player, it was my father's hope that I would follow in his footsteps and become a trumpet player, but low lung capacity and an inability to remember which end of the trumpet to blow into resulted in the inevitable: I turned to the electric bass (and later the upright bass).
Anyway, below I placed one of my favorite Kids in the Hall sketches of all time, a poetic ode to the bass player. I have to say, it's pretty accurate. However, in the '90s bass playing became cool for a brief time. In the '80s, everyone wanted to be Eddie Van Halen, but in the '90s, the kids were all about Les Claypool and Flea. I'm not sure what the cool instrument of the new century is, maybe the theremin? Is that it? Are all the chicks throwing their underwear at the quiet, moody kid rockin' the theremin? If that trend ever takes off, remember me as the one who started it.
