Who wants to see Michael Hayes on DVD?

by Bob Sassone, posted Jan 9th 2007 10:02AM

Michael HayesI know, 89% of you reading this are saying, "what's Michael Hayes?" You might even be saying " what's Michael Hayes?" without the italics, because you're not even sure if it's a TV show or not. But it was: it was a short-lived legal drama starring David Caruso before he left for Miami and put on sunglasses.

It's one of the shows that Sony might release on DVD, and they're asking you to vote for which show you want to see released on DVD later this year. The other choices are The Rookies, Cupid, Police Story, The $treet, and What's Happening Now!

An odd selection for sure. I watched The Rookies and Police Story religiously when I was younger, and it might be cool to see them on DVD, since I haven't seen an episode of either one in 20 years. For the record, my top three choices were Cupid, Police Story, then The Rookies. Cupid was a good show (with Jeremy Piven) that never got a real chance.

Can we not and say we did? As much as I like chanting "No Roger! No Rerun! No Rent!" as much as humanly possible, I will probably...no, I will never buy it on DVD.

I think they should rethink the whole DVD and put them all up on iTunes with a free episode of the pilot for each show. Out of the lot, I heard of "Cupid" and "Police Story", both of which I heard were good. And I sadly watched about ten minutes of "What's Happenin' Now" before I huddled on the floor in a fetal position and began to cry.

I LOVED Cupid, but I have to wonder, if they put it on DVD, won't we get depressed about it being cancelled all over again? Are there unaired episodes?

Also, let me throw another title out there that needs the DVD treatment...Shannon's Deal.

That's weird, I had the link post in there. All fixed now.

Why on earth would you run a picture of David Caruso when you could have run one of Paula Marshall. Have you seen Paula Marshall?

Bob, you might want to put a link to the poll in your post. It's not that easy to find Pop Candy anymore (I had to Ctrl-F "Sony"). And "Cupid" ain't leading by enough to justify not letting all the people who want to vote for it get their chance!

Michael Hayes was a decent show. I was a big David Caruso fan, and he was great on this. If he was on something that didn't involve the letters C, S, and I, I'd be watching him now.

Add me to the Cupid list. I know I have seen some of the others at least once but none of them ring any bells.

Absolutely Cupid! I, too, have been on the Jeremy Piven bandwagon since before Entourage... let's see, there was One Crazy Summer, and Say Anything, and Ellen...

Cupid, by far, but Police Story was a solid, solid show. Since it's an anthology, some episodes are better than others, but it was always watchable, and many of the episodes hold up really well. I remember my mother liking the Rookies, but have no real memories of it myself.

but I agree with the first poster up above, not only did I vote for Cupid, but I'll buy it (not just Netflix it).

CUPID! If those bastards at Sony decide to put What's Happening Now on over Cupid, it will cement my belief that Sony is by far the worst run company not on American soil.

Well, at least I can (once again) express my feelings on Cupid by voting for it, and then purchasing the set if it comes out.
