Top Chefs turn up the heat on Padma

Padma LakshmiIt is tough being a model in the kitchen. Your taut bare midriff is a cooking oil accident waiting to happen. Your chainmail bikini plus all those flying knives equals nothing good, and don't even get me started on the whole stiletto/non-slip mat combination. Ex-model and Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi has bravely faced down the hottest of kitchens all season, and for what? She's getting nothing but guff from the ousted Top Chef competitors.

Reporting to New York Magazine, cooks Ilan Hall, Cliff Crooks and Sam Talbot have all turned tight-lipped and a wee bit sour at mention of Padma's name. When asked about her culinary taste, Hall turned to the Bravo publicist at his side and asked, "Um, are we allowed to say disparaging things about Padma? No. She's beautiful. Mostly, she just explained things, and she did a good job at that." Commenting on her attire, Crooks suggested that around a working kitchen, poor Padma would either be a "fire hazard" or "get hurt." Somebody's got to be the face of this competition, people. Give Ms. Salman Rushdie a break.

Its always a sad thing when supermodels talk. Look what happened when Cindy Crawford and Paulina Poritzkova tried to act. Cinema will never be the same.
Personally I don't like the idea of a 2nd rate foodie hosting the show. I didn't like Billy Joel's wife and I don't like Padma. I just want to see more of Gail Simmons, yum. She's got enough presence for the cameras to host it.

I love Padma and think she offers unpretencious comments about the food. She handled the recent hair-shaving incident with a lot of compassion. Her role is that of the intelligent non-expert, and by the way, host.

this is just another reason why I feel PBS' "Cooking Under Fire" was a superior cooking reality contest show than Top Chef.

Padma is even worse than the robot they had last season..

"I---LIKE---- YOUR---- DISH---"

She is a joke and her opinion is ALWAYS a one dimensional critique..

"ummm, too salty."

"ummm, too meaty."

"ummm, too fruity."

Give me a break, this chick needs to go.. Ted Allen should be hosting this show IMO..

At least Mikey brought a few laughs to the table while he was there, this season just isn't in the same league as the last IMO..

Her voice and monotone delivery are very annoying, but she is nice to look at. I didn't get the "why" of her as host of the show either, until I realized that in my first watching -- I have been catching the marathon reruns -- I was really just trying to figure out who the really pretty lady is and what she is doing there. Next thing I knew I was hooked. There seems to be method to the madness.
