No plans for a Smallville spinoff at this time

After the "Justice" episode of The CW's Smallville aired last Thursday there was plenty of speculation as to whether there would be a spinoff of either the Green Arrow character or maybe a live-action version of the Justice League. In fact, many commenters to Adam Finley's review, as well as Adam himself, thought they could watch a series based on Cyborg, Aquaman, Impulse and Green Arrow.

Folks, don't hold your breath. According to Rob Allstetter over at Comics Continuum there are no plans for a spinoff. That comes directly from Smallville executive producer Al Gough, whom Allstetter spoke with on the matter. However, that doesn't me you've seen the last of these heroes. According to Gough several members may return towards the end of the season.

Personally, I would love to see a live-action Justice League series. However, with the shape the The CW is currently in (the corporate term would be "sucky") I'm not too sure where it would fit on the schedule. Then again, with the huge success of NBC's Heroes this type of show may be just what the network needs to make it a success.

I loved ALL of the Hero Characters..... I would watch them all; not just one; but all of them; they made a good team!!

No logical development? Are you insane? Lex Luthor is morphing completely into the villain he was meant to become. The character of his father is one of a villain struggling to become good, or at least partly.

With that having been said, I think the show has suffered a lot due to the fact that Warner Bros. Pictures forced the series to kill off the Jonathan Kent character in order to mesh a slight bit with *Superman Returns*. Obviously that was a big mistake.

Smallville has descended from moderately amusing to horrible in the past one or two seasons.

The characters are completely ridiculous at this point, there is no logical development to them at all. Each of them circles around the same stupid recurring themes without ever really moving forward in a believable fashion. How many times are Lana and Lex going to get knocked unconscious so they can't find out Clark's secret?

How many lame episodes with supernatural themes or with a "meteor rock" gimmick do we have to watch before we can get to one that is mildly amusing?

It's shows like BSG that expose shows like Smallville for what they really are, an episodic show pretending to have some sort of depth.

What is everyones obsession with live action? They arent likely to do better than Warner animation did with any of the franchises - Batman, Superman or JL.

Im not an anime fan, but thats one thing that the Japanese have right: Cartoons dont have to just be for kids.

I think the main reason they won't do a Justice League series is the potential to damage a movie franchise. With Marvel churning out movies about their not-as-widely known heroes, I can't imagine DC/Warner Bros. wanting to make a crappy series that loses money when they could make a slightly less crappy movie that makes money. Green Arrow and Aquaman might not sell, but a Flash movie probably could.

It's most likely because of their lame semi-spinoff of the lamest super hero ever.

But I would watch a Flash show or a Judges show as long as they hire some new writers too.
