Could The Price is Right still be looking for a host?

by Richard Keller, posted Jan 24th 2007 10:38AM

Is Todd Newton the next host of The Price is Right? There's an interesting little blurb on The Price is Right website which questions earlier reports that CBS weatherman Dave Price has been selected to replace Bob Barker when he retires at the end of the season. Here it is, straight from the site:

All fans of The Price Is Right, here is your chance to attend a taping on a Thursday as two non-air shows of Price will be taped on Thursday, January 25 at 12:15pm with John O'Hurley and Todd Newton and at 4:45pm with The Young and the Restless' Doug Davidson.

Hmm. Certainly sounds like an audition to me, particularly for Newton and Davidson, who have hosted other versions of TPIR. Todd has been hosting stage versions of Price Las Vegas and Atlantic City, while Doug hosted the short-lived, nighttime, syndicated version of the show back in 1994-95. O'Hurley may be there due to his recent hosting duties on Family Feud. So, if you live in the Los Angeles area you may want to stop by . . . you could be watching a try-out for the next host of The Price is Right. More information on tickets can be found at the show's website.

Is John O'Hurley NO longer hosting Family Feud? I thik he was the BEST since Richard Dawson.

Has he actually been signed to do the Price is Right?
I think he would be great at it. He's smart, quick, easy on the eyes..........

BUT I want to see him back on the Family Feud.

Thanks. Madeleine Jabs

Even thought is has become a tremdous task replacing Bob Barker, I believe John O'Hurley would make a wonderful addition to the Price is Right as the newly appointed Host. He is distinguished, sophicated, and has a good sense of humor. If you still want the ratings to remain the same, I think you should still continue with the same mannerisms of Bob Barker.

Thank you listening and considering,

I was just in Las Vegas (1/2007) and they had a special screening of the Price Is Right at Television Studios located in the MGM Grand. They do not tell you what you will be watching beforehand, they just tell you it is prime time TV. We viewed a tape of the Price Is Right with Doug Davidson. They simply ask you to watch the show and minute by minute you rate what you are watching by using a little handheld dial. They did not mention they were looking for a new host. I have to admit I gave it very low ratings. Doug just doesn't seem like a good fit. After the viewing, I was asked to come back for a focus group discussion. All of the questions in the focus group were centered around the host. The others in the focus group were not impressed by him either. It would really surprise me if he is the one that is selected.

I guess Craig Kilborn wasn't interested?

Was Rosie O'Donnell in the mix for this at one time, or did I dream that up all by myself?

O' Hurley is like a living caricature of some kind. He shouldn't even be hosting the Family Feud.

Price is Right should go to Marc Summers.

The contestants don't get to keep the prizes: as I understand it, they're informed in advance that there will be a monetary substitution that's somewhat less than the prizes they actually win.

They at least get to win something, plus, if I'm not mistaken, they're still eligible to be a contestant on a "real" show at a later date.

One more thing...

I think they should show the 3 episodes as a special Price is Right Night and we can vote on who we like best.
