FOX News' version of Daily Show fails to impress

by Annie Wu, posted Jan 24th 2007 7:23PM
FOX NewsRadar Online just posted a really brief review of The Half-Hour News Hour, FOX News' The Daily Show-esque comedy program. As most of us expected, the future of this program does not look good. It has been described as a show combining "the timeliness of Newsweek with the incisive wit of Mallard Fillmore".

Whoa. Come on, Radar, that was below the belt. Nobody deserves to be compared to Mallard Fillmore. Although, I suppose The Half-Hour News Hour was kind of asking for a beating by even daring to even entertain the notion of a Limbaugh/Coulter White House.

Two Questions

1. What is a comedy show doing on a News Network
2. Is it safe to assume that Fox News is no longer "fair and balanced" since it has TWO SHOWS that ONLY ATTACK DEMOCRATS
3. Conservatives arent that funny b/c the lack the key to the success of Daily Show and Colbert...the art of self deprecating humor

All this fighting over a conservative comedy show! It hasn't even been aired and it's already being reviewed by a bunch of net punks still living with their parents. Take this advice, politicos, if your under 30 and not a liberal, you have no heart, if your over 30 and not a conservative, you have no brain (and probably no job). That would explain why liberals don't understand Dennis Miller.

Dennis Miller is a libertarian asshole. He's an insult to the right! As a liberal, I feel bad for Fox News whenever he shows up. He just makes weirdo references and laughs at all his jokes. HEHE I made fun of Ahmedinijad look at me and my cutting edge humor!

Why FoxNews? Well, MSNBC has Olberman and Matthews, so there's a perfect example of "comedians" pretending to be news anchors.

i'd say the title of the show is more a ripoff of MTVs 'half hour comedy hour' than 'this hour has 22 minutes'.

i really don't understand why this is a fox news program. TDS and colbert aren't on CNN.
if it were syndicated across regular fox stations i could understand, but if they're really planning on airing this on FNC, well, that's just ridiculous.

As of 12:20 EST, it's Opposite Day. I suggest you guys become the stereotypes of all that you hate on the other side of the aisle and create even more chaos! ;)

title of the show is an obvious rip off of Canada's long running satire This Hour Has 22 Minutes. little talking heads a la South Park. I think i'll stick to The Daily Show

"What's not funny is how the majority of the hateful and intolerant comments come from the so-called tolerant left. Any time Fox News, Bush, Cheney or anything even remotely associated with conservatism is mentioned, out comes a spate of hateful remarks about how intolerant the right is."

The left is intolerant towards intolerance. That's the right kind of intolerance.

I'm sorry, but the fact that even gay civil unions are not legal yet (in most states) in the most "free" country in the world is ridiculous, and most of the blame falls on the right.
