Local TV station explains this whole 'blog' thing - VIDEO

by Anna Johns, posted Jan 29th 2007 9:22AM
wtocI just had to share this video with you. The CBS affiliate in Savannah, Georgia (WTOC) is apparently just hearing about this whole 'weblog' phenomenon and thinks it might catch on. The station is the highest-rated in Savannah and has been for a long time. Watching their news segment makes me think they're about to lose most of their viewers to old age.

The story is about a small bloggers' convention in Savannah. The anchor who leads-in to the package is hilarious in his efforts to explain to the kind folks of Savannah exactly what a 'blog' is. And his tag after the reporter's story will have you rolling on the floor.

Now, you may think the video comes from 1999 or earlier, but no. It's from last week.

Video is after the jump. Enjoy!

LOL, BigB - don't worry about it. I made a total ass out of myself on CNN once (back when CNN kinda meant something)! I'm a well-spoken, educated professional at the top of my field, and I told all of my friends/family with this sort of, you know, detached coolness that I was doing this interview on CNN. Then I babbled like an idiot, got flop-sweats and looked like a deranged FREAK! I even did this peculiar little dance thing. (I work in wildlife rehab & have no need to dance - ever).

Anyway, the anchor's varnished hairpiece totally detracted any attention from you, and while your loved ones will make fun of you for a while (my dance move was mimmicked for weeks!), it will die down & be a fun memory for you! BBQ on, my friend! :D

You know, I really didn't think that it was all that bad. I know that a good two thirds of the people I know would probably need an introduction like that, and if you think about this from the point of view of somebody who never uses a computer for anything but e-mail, say, it really was necessary.

Forget the hairpiece, that mustache has to go.

Oh no, did I miss the report about the Internet, too? I swear local news people are still living in 1970 and this guy looks like every local news anchorman across the country with his overgrown 'stache and FAKE hair!

How would YOU like to be captured saying "Barbeque has been very good to me"?
Well, that's me up there.
I should stick to typing, that live TV thing is too fast for this self-proclaimed "country boy from Savannah". - Another spin just to help them get a story. . .

While I could never live there, Savannah is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. Arrested development is not always a bad thing.

Okay, I do feel like I have gone back in time after watching this "new" report!! Pretty soon there will probably be a "news" item talking about how people can watch television on their computers!!
