Woman files lawsuit against Dog the bounty hunter

by Adam Finley, posted Feb 4th 2007 12:01PM

dog the bounty hunterWhile awaiting an extradition ruling by a Mexican judge in connection with his arrest of Andrew Luster in 2003, Duane "Dog" Chapman (a.k.a. Dog the bounty hunter) has had another lawsuit filed against him, this time by a woman who claims she was injured by Dog and his crew while they were apprehending her boyfriend.

Audrey Emery says she was thrown down a flight of stairs and suffered a broken back after Dog and his team broke into her apartment to capture suspect Stuart Calistro. Chapman and his wife Beth have released a statement saying they always work within the boundaries of the law and that as Dog has become more famous they've been slapped with more and more "frivolous lawsuits."

As much as I'd like to play "armchair lawyer" here, I really don't know what to think of this. I obviously wasn't there when all of this went down, but it seems that in Dog's line of work in which you're working with the law rather than for the law, there's always going to be the question as to whether or not you've crossed the line and did more than you should have.

I think the hole thing in Mexiceo was crazy. They are to protect and serve just like police are to do. I understand the juriction laws. But when someone knowling runs to keep from getting cought. It should be only far to be able to apprehend a fugitave at any means. As long as its done as the law states.

Maybe she shouldn't have been harboring a fugitive ...

Her credibility took a hit based on what she wore to the press conference with her lawyer ... His credibility is shot too ...

Why did she wait over two years to file the suit?? IF her back was truly broke, she would've/should've filed suit right away ...

Sounds like another opportunist who saw that Dog's latest contract with A&E is for seven figures ...

Well, we are only hearing one side to this story and that side is coming from the girlfriend of a bail jumper. If I had to guess, the boyfriend probably used her as a human shield to run interference on dog while he attempted to make an escape.

Perhaps this lady should've told the legal bounty hunters that her criminal boyfriend was crawling through the rafters in the ceiling instead of lying and saying he wasn't there in the first place...
