The Daily Show: February 6, 2007

Jon Stewart"RUN DNC": Barack Obama and Jesus Christ Superstar? Fantastic. Hillary Clinton and Kelis' "Milkshake"? Kick-ass! Chris Dodd's scatting song was also hilarious. Oh, and Ted Haggard is hetero now... um, in case any of you were wondering. The cigarettes analogy made me groan a little too loudly, heh.

"The Daily Show's Laguna Beach: The Real, Real Orange County": This was a nice way to wrap up Jason Jones' two part report. It really was beautifully done, perfectly copying Laguna Beach's style. For example, the inclusion of the bonfire at the end was great. Nice job, Jones, you made me laugh for once. I had a good chuckle when he said that reality was just like the show, "without school, fat people, poverty, rain, or herpes". It's true.

The night's guest was Mike Rowe from Discovery Channel's Dirty Jobs. He was pretty funny, I thought. I think I'll have to check out that show some time in the near future. Rowe's German porn comment was quite nice as well. Oh, and I was really surprised that Jon didn't know that owl pellets aren't poo, but vomit. I knew that in, like, first grade! C'mon.

Jon/Stephen: None. Boo. Moment of Zen: Dennis Kucinich wants us to "crown thy good". Was anyone else reminded of the pageant emcee from Little Miss Sunshine?

I think having never seen Laguna Beach made me miss a lot of the jokes, but it was still ok. Usually, I hate the guests who are plugging a movie or tv show, but Mike Rowe was excellent.

And Kucinich's "and crown thy good" didn't make me think of Little Miss Sunshine as much as it made me think that he could save the world Jack Bauer style on live tv, and still have no shot.
