Criminal Minds: Revelations

Criminal Minds(S02E15) No sense in getting into the circumstances about Reid's abduction. I'm assuming that if you've come back to read this, then you saw the spectacular first part that aired after the Super Bowl.

More than anything else, this episode was all about Reid. It's the first time we really got some explanations about his past, his childhood, and what it was like to grow up in his house. It has me a little worried though. Why's that? Because it reminded me a lot of this season's premiere episode. And we all know what that led to - the downfall of Elle.

I'm not saying Reid is being written out of the show as Elle was. They'd be crazy to get rid of him, but it does seem that he's being sent down a dark path. For those that caught the very last few seconds of the episode, Reid stole the drugs from Tobias' pocket. They made him hallucinate and it seems that it brought back memories of his mother.

I understand why he wants them but is he going to become addicted? I'd say yes or why else have him take them? There was an interesting line earlier in the episode though, right before Tobias injected Reid. He said to him, "Tell me it doesn't help and I won't do it." Reid stayed silent. That's the moment right there. It says a lot and it's definitely the one thing we need to take away from this episode because I think it's going to be important as we watch Reid for the rest of the season.

Two other things stood out in this episode. The first was Gideon. We saw him pacing in the bathroom following his decision to stop Tobias' video from hitting the internet. He was pacing and talking to himself, justifying his choice out loud. It was a really cool scene and they cut it back and forth to Tobias pacing around in the graveyard, wrestling with his three personalities. I think it just says something about the demons we all have. I don't know, maybe I'm reading into this too much but I just thought it was really cool. We've never really seen Gideon like that before.

The second thing was JJ and her reaction to the entire situation. She blames herself for Reid's capture and to top it off, it seems she doesn't really have the stomach for the gory/bloody stuff that the BAU team encounters on a daily basis. So who knows what's going to happen to her, but I'm loving the way they developed some of the characters over this two episode arc. Criminal Minds continues to impress.

I think this episode was great. Matthew did an awesome job. It was the first episode I ever watched of Criminal minds (Well actually it was The Big Game, but I continued to watch this one of course). What a great episode to start watching with. Reid is my favourite character and it was great to see him have a storyline. I was dissapointed to see him grab the drugs but I guess it's realistic. Alot of people can get addicted to the medicine they take when they're sick, so I guess it's sort of the same with Reid. He has an IQ of 187, I'm sure someone will be able to talk him out of having them or he will stop himself.. I hope. I also enjoyed the hug between him and JJ. (Shipper heart is coming out) I thought it was adorable and very fitting. I hope there will more episodes like this.

my thoughts on Reid and the Dilaudid - I think he's gonna use it to bring up the suppressed memories of sending his mother to the mental hospital. I think he's buried them so deeply that he's never really dealt with them, and he'll use the drugs to help himself work thru it. to finally be able to truly accept that he did do the right thing, and be able to put the guilt to rest that he obviously feels about having done what he did. my 2 cents' worth... :)

I have been reading comments about this show and all of them are very inciteful. I am surprised that noone has commented on the undercurrent which addresses the audience that the murders on-line created through out the show. All of the profilers were disgusted with the fascination that downloaded scenes of the muders recieved. This during their most graphic episode ever. While I loved every aspect of this episode, this is the point that has me pondering all week. Very ironic.Or is it.

The song at the end was "the funeral" by Band of Horses. Great song and very powerful in the ending scene.

I'm always a bit late with my comments but I like to read the others first. I like all the characters and I think the point is that some are annoying, as we are in real life. This is a riveting show but very, very dark and gory with many episodes I find hard to watch, and this video bit is getting overdone on many of the crime shows and on this one in particular. I agree that at least Part 1 is barely watchable due to the dogs. I also agree that having Reid get addicted is like Martin on Without a Trace, but at first I thought he took the drugs because he knew he would need them for a while. Now I think he took them because he is fascinated by what he experienced. Are we sure no one saw him getting injected on video. The ending with the choice of who should die and the biblical quote that Hotch understood, above them all, had me practically in tears.

i read the episode preview for two weeks from now... and it says the team notices a change in reid's behavior... i assume this will be an effect of the drugs which he will be using

Great reviews. I haven't really watched Criminal Minds before, but this episode got me hooked!

The characterizations and suspense were wonderful and I enjoyed getting the background 'flashbacks' from both Reid and Tobias' childhoods.

I have to admit that I had to close my eyes during the gory scenes and remember that those dogs are actors too, but I thought the writers did a great job getting into the serial killer's mind and motivations. Simply eerie!

Reid being able to think his way through and give a message to his co-workers was just amazing as he was being forced to play russian roulette.

Great to see the inner turmoil of the characters during this difficult job they have. Looking forward to more.

I was struck by the closing song in the show....when Reid was bending over Tobias, they played a song that sounded like Cold Play in the beginning, but the voice didn't sound like the guy in Cold Play. Anyone know the name of that song?
