Backwards message found in Lost's Not in Portland episode - VIDEO

by Erin Martell, posted Feb 11th 2007 1:48PM

Alex and Karl in Some very resourceful Lost fanatics have reversed the speech in the brainwashing video that was shown during the "Not in Portland" episode. The reversed version of the video is available after the jump. As you will hear, a voice is heard to say "Only fools are enslaved by time and space." This is not the first time that the show has utilized backwards speech, however. Many viewers believed that, during Shannon's visions of then-missing Walt, Walt was heard to whisper a message backwards.

Other viewers have claimed that the backwards statement is rooted in Buddhist teachings. Should you choose to visit the link, the statement can be found the third paragraph of Section IV. Naturally I have no idea what any of this means for the purposes of the show, but it is an interesting connection. Be sure to check out the video below.

think about it like this. this in not the langaleers. this is an island with clouds able to destroy people maybe worse. what how do they know what year it is now if they all woke up from being uncouncious. what powers so they stations have. maybe thought control or maybe mind control. maybe alot alot more. and the others think there in control but what if there just being observed like the guy said in the video ...people are being monitored but dont know it.

That makes sense. The folks at http://www.thetailsection.com blew up the pages that the guy from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia were reading in "A Brief History of Time," and they were about black holes and bending time as well as space. So it seems like they're hinting to the ubergeek fans about some sort of time travel aspect to the whole thing.
