Is Kimmel being bumped to 12:35 ... or out completely?

by Bob Sassone, posted Feb 14th 2007 2:21PM

KimmelThe New York Observer is reporting that ABC has filmed two secret pilots for a new hour-long version of Nightline. The shows were filmed on Feb. 9, but ABC and Disney haven't decided to go through with the new version of the show or not.

Of course, if this new hour-long show were to happen, that means it would air from 11:35PM to 12:35AM. Jimmy Kimmel Live starts every night at 12:05AM, so (one assumes) Kimmel's show would be pushed back to the 12:35 slot, starting at the same time as Late Night With Conan O'Brien and The Late, Late Show With Craig Ferguson. But the article also states that execs have said that Kimmel's show is losing "buckets of money." So could Kimmel be pushed out of the network completely?

If Kimmel stays and goes to 12:35, I probably won't watch the show anymore. As it is I usually only watch the monologue (he has one of the best in late night, in my opinion), but the rest of the show falls a little flat to me. Plus I'm getting old and can't stay up really late like I used to.

I think that Jimmy Kimmel's show has gotten better the past two years. The first two seasons, he had too much of this hanging at a bar kind mode to the show. Now, he's gotten better guests, including actors, singers, rappers and other celebrities. He has the hipper musical guests that the more conservative Jay Leno or the more polished David Letterman don't have. How can those ABC execs say the show is losing money, when Jimmy's making some better shows? Maybe the ratings aren't strong in some markets and cities. Oh, I know what it is. They want to have Leno and Letterman compete in one hour and the wiseguy hosts of Kimmel,Conan and Craig Ferguson compete in the later hour. They just don't want it to be crushed against the long running Tonight Show.

ABC is crazy!!! Jimmy Kimmell is the best talk show host on television. He truly makes people laugh at this insane world and our corrupt idiot politicians.

Hopefully, everyone (including AOL--which
Kimmell promotes on his show) will raise enough hell to keep him on the air and allow him to do some additional primetime specials. His "one & only" primetime special was excellent!!!! JIMMY KIMMELL
RULES!!!!!!! And ABC needs to wake-up to the desires of it's viewers!!!!!!! ;-)

I enjoy Jimmy, and will be really disappointed if Jimmy Kimmel is taken off the air. Carson Daly is a waste of time, and Craig Ferguson does not do anything for me, and Conan Obrien is a fowl mouthed pig who gets his jollies by being cruel and insulting in his comments about others. There is no good reason for anyone to resort to the tactics he uses. He is a "no-class act". The day he takes over Leno is the day I stop watching that time slot.

I sincerely hope Jimmy Kimmel doesn't go off the air. I really enjoy his connection to his guests. The one I'd love to see go off the air is Conan O'Brien. He is a no-talent disgrace to late night TV. A lot of people, myself included, who have long watched The Tonight Show, will no longer be watching when Conan takes over. Johnny Carson would roll over in his grave if he knew! Keep Kimmel on the air!

I love Jimmy. Don't always care for the skits but I think he does
great interviews. Can't stand Conan O'Brien. Will never watch him
when he takes over the Leno show. NEVER!!!I think they should push
nightline back and push Kimmel forward to the Nightline slot.Dot
