Tina Fey totally slams Aaron Sorkin

by Anna Johns, posted Feb 14th 2007 11:33AM
tina feyThe gossipers over at New York Daily News have a great tidbit about Tina Fey dissing Aaron Sorkin at a recent event. She reportedly told the crowd at the Writers Guild Awards, "I hear Aaron Sorkin is in Los Angeles wearing the same dress- but longer, and not funny."

As the kids on That '70s Show would say, "Oooooh! BURN! BURN!"

Tina Fey was probably just being funny, but the girl definitely has earned the right to gloat. While 30 Rock and Studio 60 are both behind-the-scenes of sketch comedy shows, Fey's show prevails. 30 Rock is getting funnier and funnier, while Studio 60 is getting worse and worse. I stopped caring about Matt and Harriet in the second episode of Studio 60. And I can't wait to see Alec Baldwin each Thursday night!

This guy is nuts. Martin sheen did not expect the west wing to last because it was too good a show for USA audiences. Studio 60 proved to be too good as it was cancelled after the first season. It is ironic that studio 60 was about a show battling the networks to bring on a truly quality show at the risk of being cancelled and the real deal got cancelled. But at least a show too smart for television lasted one season.

Tina Fey Rocks! She's one of the 50 most beautiful and hot persons in the world, and the funniest too! and that's a fact. 30 Rock is one of the humoruos shows on television.

I guess there's no accounting for taste. To me, 30 Rock, The Office and Scrubs are the only watchable sitcoms on television. (Maybe Earl returns strong.)

I tried watching Studio 60 -- Amanda Peet is reason enough. But all the characters talk the same way and it exhausts me.

Everyone is too smart, too fast, too clever for their own good.

Moments that should be less serious just can't get goofy, which 30 Rock excels at.

It's like listening to Paganini's Caprices: technically impressive composition, but you'd probably go mental if you listened to them every day.

Plus, how could any workplace for a whole season still be this pre-occupied by the could-a-been/should-a-been relationship between Harriet and Perry? It's all too weighty.

I loved Sorkin's Sports Night. But it had the same rhythm and themes and practically had the same characters.

If they do cancel Studio 60, maybe Amanda Peet can show up on 30 Rock as Jack's love interest. That would give the show two of the hottest women on television.

In response to: "It's funny how everyone hates on Studio 60 but they know every plot point and watch every week so they can tell everyone how bad it is."

... that's because it's a fascinating train wreck. It's awful, but you can't take your eyes off it. I've only seen one episode, and it's best for my health that I don't watch any more. It's like the crack cocaine of bizarrely misguided television.
P.S. the most vocal critics of Studio 60 are people who've actually worked on TV comedy shows. Yes, it's a "drama", but it supposedly portrays what it's like to work on an SNL-type show.
P.P.S. Why the hell am I writing about this? I should be out working for Barack Obama or something. Who cares about some bad show?

I'm not at all familiar with Tina Fey, but I would presume she was cracking a joke as she is a comic and it was the writer of the article who is an ignoramus. One show is a comedy, one is a drama...Mr. Sorkin sticking to drama was Ms. Fey's lame joke.

STUDIO 60 is DRAMA about a COMEDY show, so OFCOURSE some parts of it has to be funny!!! he's not writing about cancer patients, or 3rd world hunger!!

if his "DRAMA" about a comedy has absolutely nothing funny in it, then IT FAILS MISERABLY !!!!!

I'm all for networks giving shows a chance even due to poor ratings, but come on, the ppl have spoken on this one! only die-hard sorkin fans that would gladly eat his feces are the only ones watching (and cheering!)

Actually, both shows are not doing well. I won't be surprised if Studio 60 is not renewed.

30 Rock is up against Grey's Anatomy and CSI, so NBC knows that it shouldn't expect to do really well.

"And if Sorkin said: 'I hear Tina Fey is in New York wearing the same pants- but tighter, and funny.' - would you guys have a problem with that?"

Hell, no. That'd be par for the course for Sorkin's level of wit.

30 ROCK RULEZ STUDIO 60 DROOOLZ!!1!
