Which Idol contestants will make the Top 24 tonight?
Without Idol releasing a complete list of last night's Top 40 contestants, and with so few contestants getting airtime, it's difficult for me to even figure out who's who, let alone predict just who will make tonight's Top 24. I think that the Idol producers purposely keep things vague, otherwise we'd pretty much be able to compile our own list of 24 (based on who DID get airtime), and wouldn't need to tune in for tonight's episode. From re-watching last night's episode, and searching other sites for their observations, I've been able to piece together a list of people who (probably) advanced to the Top 40. But I'm really not sure, so if you have definitive information, feel free to share.
The Girls:
1. Gina Glocksen
2. Melinda Doolittle
3. Haley Scarnato
4. Tami Gosnell
5. Alaina Alexander
6. Antonella Barba
7. Tatiana McConnico
8. Jessica Gordon (seen briefly during group rehearsals and tryouts)
9. Marisa Rhodes (seen briefly during group rehearsals and tryouts)
Besides Gina and Antonella, very few girls got airtime yesterday (other than the ones who were booted, that is). Melinda and Tatiana got mentions, nothing else. I only spotted Tami, Alaina, and Haley in the YES rooms, but never saw them actually perform. Lots of ladies who impressed us during the auditions were not seen at all during last night's episode, and I didn't recognize them in the Yes Rooms. However, I'm guessing they possibly advanced, otherwise we wouldn't even have a total of 12 Ladies. Possible contenders, include:
10. Jordin Sparks
11. Kia Thornton
12. Denise Jackson
13. Sarah Krueger
14. Ebony Jointer
15. Lakisha Jones
I don't want to cry conspiracy, but it sure seems like the African-American contestants were given extremely limited exposure yesterday.
The Boys:
1. Matthew Buckstein
2. Chris Sligh
3. Sundance Head
4. Blake Lewis
5. Brandon Rodgers
6. Rudy Cardenas
7. Thomas Daniels
8. Tom Lowe
9. Sanjaya Malakar
10. Phil Stacy
11. Chris Richardson
12. Nick Pedro
13. Paul Kim
14. Jimmy McNeal
The boys were given a bit more airtime last night, or they at least were more visually recognizable. Who didn't I catch a glimpse of? Jenry Bejarano or Bernard Williams. I suppose they could theoretically still be contenders. But I just have no idea if they were even in Los Angeles.
I imagine there will be one or two big surprises tonight. Possibly fan favorite Sundance Head could be on his way home. He wasn't that impressive yesterday, and his leaving would at least be memorable. For the girls, I guess it would be a shock if Gina Glocksen goes home, after all the airtime they've given her. But overall, I can't imagine many going home from the lists above, because that would mean that a bunch of people we've never met or seen are in our Top 24. And that would make no sense at all.
Unfortunately, some of the ladies are going to be at a serious disadvantage next week. Without a lot of airtime, they haven't had time to build a fan base. And that could hurt them as the competition heats up.
My prediction for tonight: 10 people we've never met will get cut, along with a couple of contestants we vaguely know, and 2 we've grown so attached to that we'll be shocked.
