The Daily Show: February 15, 2007

Jon Stewart"Dance Dance Resolution": Man. All that talk about disappointing Davey Crockett really broke my heart. And all that talk about Wicked made my inner theatre geek laugh... and my inner normal civilian cry a little bit for the state of our Congress. Did a cell phone really go off at the end of that guy's speech? If so... Wow.

"Mess O' Potamia": Senior Military Speculator John Oliver stopped by to sing a little "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" and connect various terrorists to one source of evil, Kevin Bacon. I think I've figured out why Oliver has been showing up so many times in the past few weeks... He's living in the studio. There's no other explanation.
The night's guest was Meredith Vieira, the Today Show anchorwoman who's crazy enough to get up at 3:00 every morning. The Star Jones question was beautiful, as was Jon's crackly, sick voice when he shouted, "Lotion!" Vieira's dream was really, really strange. I'm going to take the Freudian method of dream analysis and just say that everything in that represented a penis.

Jon/Stephen: Stephen Colbert and a hardcore investi-vacation. Aww, Jon and Stephen kind of, sort of had similar ties. Moment of Zen: Representative Ric Keller likes talkin' about mowing lawns and shooting people.

Is the show off next week? I know Jon (in the check in!) said something like "have a nice week off, Stephen," and they do usually take breaks at the same time. Normally I'd be mad that Jon's taking a week off but the fact that he has a cold makes me a little more sympathetic to the idea of him having some time off.

Diane Sawyer represented a penis? Interesting.

"And all that talk about Wicked made my inner theatre geek laugh... and my inner normal civilian cry a little bit..."

And your inner child likes the frosted side?

And thanks for the Wicked link... I'm not a theatre person, so I had no idea what he was talking about.
