The Black Donnellys pilot available online

The Black DonnellysNext week Studio 60 will go on hiatus to make way for The Black Donnelys in the Monday night slot. In an effort to drum up some interest, NBC has released the pilot online. The strange part of this is that it isn't available on NBC's website. Rather, you can watch it on Yahoo video.

If the show improves on Studio 60's questionable numbers, it could be the end of Matt and Danny. I think things are just going to get murkier than ever though. Nothing about the pilot grabbed me and made this must see TV. The show is just as awkward a fit for the post Heroes slot as Studio 60.

I would expect it to perform much the same. Look for a disappointing drop-off out of Heroes and a sound defeat facing CSI: Miami. Something in the 2.5 to 3 times the viewership area. Where the network goes from there is anyone's guess.

Well, I think Studio 60 was just given their pink slip. I just watched The Black Donnellys and I really like it, way better then Studio 60. I just hope they didn't put all the goods in to the pilot.

I didn't have much expectations or any understanding of what it was suppose to be about, and maybe that's why I like it. I can't help but be reminded of The Wire when I was watching, but I can't put in to words why it reminded me so much of it. But I LOVE The Wire.

Maybe it is because with The Wire, you got a chunck of a world that isn't too often broken down in to all its piece to be explored. If The Black Donnellys doesn't screw it up, I think they could do the same thing.

I think there is definitely promise for it. They presented a lot of information in the episode, and answered some of the questions that were raised, but the best part was that they left you wanting to know more about the characters, and a few unanswered questions that will have me tuning in next week.

It has been a long time since I have watched a pilot and wanted to immediately know more about EVERTHING.

If you have time to watch the pilot, either on line or next monday, I would make plans on doing it. Believe me it is WAY BETTER than The Winner on Fox. And having watched all of them and The Black Donnellys on line, trust me when I tell you The Winner is a waste of time.

I got this from Netflix and really enjoyed it. There was a LOT of story for a one hour episode. Yes, it was a bit formulaic, but it's a network TV show, so there's a certain amount of formula involved. It wore its influences on its sleeves, but when Usual Suspects and Scorcese movies are among the influences, I'm intrigued. It definitely feels more like a limited run series than a 22 episodes a year for x number of years series, but I'm there for the next episodes, and I've been recommending it to others.

the promos have NOT done it any good, but having watched the whole first episode, I'm not sure how one could do a 30 or even 60 second promo that completely encapsulated what this show has the potential to be.

but it doesn't fit well with Heroes. Putting this on after a Law and Order might work better - or on Sunday where Sopranos fans might find it, but not after Heroes.
