Watching TiVo in any room the easy(ish) way

TiVo Series2Say you want to be able to use your TiVo from any room in the house without having to buy a TiVo for every room in the house. Well, eventually you'll be able to buy a SlingCatcher/Slingbox combo that will let you stream video from one TV to another.

But one enterprising TiVo users has come up with a far more elegant (and cheaper) solution. Since his Series2 TiVo was hooked up to his satellite connection, the cable wiring in his house was just sitting there dormant. So he plugged a coaxial cable into the video output jack on his TiVo and ran it to the cable junction box. Now you can plug any TV into any cable jack in the house and pick up the output from the TiVo. In order to control the TiVo from throughout the house, all he needed was a couple of wireless remote control extenders, which run about $40.

Of course, if you want to be able to watch two programs in different rooms at the same time, you're going to have to shell out the cash for a second TiVo unit, which just complicates matters, because you've got to figure out which TiVo you used to record which programs.

He must have a different TiVo than I do (Humax DVD-burning), because my only coax out is strictly a pass-through of the analog cable.. not TiVo A/V.
