Idol rumors: Will Fantasia, J. Lo, and Gwen Stefani all perform this year?

Jennifer LopezFox has confirmed that Season Three Idol winner, Fantasia Barrino, will perform live on Thursday's first results show and will also make a "special announcement." This show airs on February 22 (8-9 PM ET).

Idol and Fox sure do love to tease us with "special" or "surprise" announcements, don't they? Will Fantasia provide us with a hint about this year's promised "unexpected twist?" Probably not.

According to this entertainment site, Fantasia will merely announce a new job. Apparently, she'll be joining the cast of Oprah Winfrey's Broadway production of The Color Purple. Which is good for her, but doesn't help me unlock Idol's secrets. Darn them.

In other Idol-related rumors, MSNBC is reporting (via Access Hollywood) that Jennifer Lopez will likely perform on Idol's April 11 show, and Gwen Stefani may perform on March 28.

Of course, Idol thrives on gossip and teases, so we won't know for sure who is or isn't making a surprise Idol appearance until Fox gives us their official press releases.

Are you excited about these J.Lo rumors? Or would you rather see someone else perform live?

Fantasia is so good. I saw her on a tribute to Aretha Franklin and that girl shined. I don't hardly think Jennifer Hudson will be invited to sing on Idol because she has done nothing but knock the show and I think that is a bad move on her part because they gave that girl exposure she would never have had whether she won or not. She should be thankful. She was not the best singer regardless of what is in her head and she isn't very nice.

I hope J.LO does perform only so Simon gets to comment on her terrible singing and hopefully make her cry I would really enjoy that :)

I would not want to hear J-Lo sing, but i think she would make an interesting guest judge. I would love to see Patti LaBelle perform.

well i hope jlo doesnt go on american idol!!..first of all..who is she
to mentor SINGERS!!! first of all, she needs to get some singing
mentoring and lessons first!!! shes had many hit records..but not
because of her voice..it would be a mistake to put her on a singing
show!!..i dont think it will happen!..if she could really sing..she
would go on tour..shes never gone on tour by herself!! i know she
could sell tickets, but she cant sing and she knows it, thats why she
makes so many movies..to use that as an excuse not to tour or sing
live!!!..no it better not happen!!
