American Idol's most oversung songs revealed

Lakisha on American Idol last night. "I am very tempted to say to twenty-three people, book your plane tickets home", says Simon Cowell after LaKisha Jones' performance on American Idol last night.

Amen Simon. I know you're not serious but one can dream. Is this season killing you like its killing me? I cannot watch any more extremely attractive women sing songs that they are obviously not capable of singing. Nor can I watch Randy say "Big Girl, Big Song", anymore. Its very obvious who has the real talent and its obvious that the women are going to be voted for their stunning looks, or their stunning singing ability. There isn't really one that completely encompasses both and...

...what was with all the performers last night singing songs about "You're gonna love me", "I'm special" and all the other self congratulatory, ego stroking lyrics.

Am I wrong? Or did we hear *two* Celine Dion songs last night? How many times in Idol history have we heard songs from Elton John, Whitney Houston, that damn Mariah Carey or songs made popular by other Idol alumns?
How many times do we have to listen to the same song over and over every season?

Its become such a dilemma that a poll was taken that designated which songs were "The Most Oversung Songs on American Idol".

I cannot be more bored with American Idol than I already am, I partially blame last night's episode as well as last night's episode of Lost, for having me fast asleep before 11pm last night. It was the first time. Sheesh.

I think if you had a limit of votes. Like dancing with the stars... If there are 20 people you get 20 votes ... If there are 15 people you get to vote 15 times per phone lines.... This may help get the good singers to stay on American Idol

I wholeheartedly agreed with Simon last night for the rest of the contenders to book an airplane home. LAKISHA if she continues to give knock-out performances as she did last night, she should win. Granted, there are a couple of other gals that have good vocals, but of course it all remains to be seen. The American public is very fickle, and everything of course boils down to "looks/personality/talent" in that order. Too bad. Talent should be ranked No. 1 and personality No. 2.

This season, as in the past 2 or 3 is really going to kill us. I deplore the 6 men 6 women goal for the final twelve. After men's night and ladies night I can only foresee 3 or 4 men and the rest women that should move on. Here is the rub...We eliminate 2 of each til it reaches that magic number and by that time several good female singers are gone with poor or so-so guys left standing.

By the time we hit the top 12 we should eliminate on the basis of singing ability not gender. Who should care if we have 10 of one gender and two of the other--at least we still have the BEST singers to listen to and vote for.

Please, please, please no: Christina, Celine, Whitney, Aretha, Brian McKnight, or anyone that encourages the contestants to attempt a bunch of warbly runs.
