The Bonus Donnellys: NBC posts web-only episode

The Black Donnellys

Here's something you don't see all the time. After airing two episodes of its newest drama, The Black Donnellys, NBC has posted a special web-only installment. It's become common to see special clips or deleted scenes as online exclusives, but a whole episode is rare. Here's what I don't get though. Normally, when something like this is done, the episode will have no bearing on the rest of the season. That way, people who don't get to see it aren't left in the dark about anything. However, if you check out the episode list over on Wikipedia, I get the impression that this episode is vital to the season. Without giving away details, it seems like it picks up right where Monday's episode left off. I've enjoyed the show so far (haven't memorized all the different names yet...), but this seems like a bit of a risk NBC is taking. Putting a pilot episode online before it airs is one thing, but an episode that's integral to a show's first season? Without airing it regularly? Not so sure about that.

I started to watch this show but had to stop before I became to involed or started to look forward to watching it. NBC may well dump it like it did "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip." I watched and supported the show and became a fan. Then out of the blue they dump the show. They even had 9 more shows already made but just left everyone hanging. Sop screw NBC, your new gameshow network!

I love the show and am completely hooked on it as are most of my co-workers. It's the talk of the office Tuesday Morning. I just don't Understand why the 'God is a comedian' episode wasn't aired. As some of you stated above, it is relevant to the plot! I love the show and it sucks the ratings are low! I hope the show doesn't get axed!

I was very supprise that this show isn't getting better ratings. After 3 episodes my 15 year old daugter and I are hooked. I find the writing to be excellent and the characters interesting. IT is good to be ganster hood entertainment again. Old school stuff, Good Fellow and The God Father. The lead character reminds me of Michael C. in The God Father. He is protecting his family and is going bad things to protect his family. I wouldn't do it or my family that is for sure! Jimmy gets on my nerves and just wants me to ring his neck, I like that kind of tension in a show. I really hope it sticks around. I am watching it! We are hooked!

I could be remembering wrong, but didn't we know who the guy with the ax was? I remember a scene earlier in the epsisode that had him beating a guy up asking who killed his brother. Then later in the episode when he pulled up to Tommy with the ax was at least the second time we saw him. I remember thinking I don't know if I would have gotten in the car with the brother of the man I just killed. I could be wrong.

Richard D: My bad, but I guess in a weird convoluted way my point kind of still stands. Hmm, when I think about it, it's probably a decent time for TBD, but too late for Studio 60.

But yeah, I haven't watched the episode yet, but in the latest proper episode, it did kind of confused about who the guy with the axe was. It was easy to work it out, but it didn't have any kind of shock value when you saw the car pull up.

Not that I watch this show but in general these offers to watch episodes online are only good in the U.S.

Here's the trouble with doing a web only episode, CANADIANS GET SCREWED. Let this be the last time this kind of thing happens or if it doesn, please let it not be a show I actually watch.

If they did a web only episode of Heroes I couldn't watch I'd be so peeved

this show is starting to grow on me but i have no idea why they couldn't have aired this show. i felt it was better than the first two episodes anyway. except tommy really needs to take some acting lessons. if hes going to be the modern day michael corleone, maybe just watch the first two godfathers a couple times or something. or even the departed. stop looking all shifty and quivering, its unbecoming of an rising mobster.

You can not believe everything you read on WIKI. I Have watched it and thought it fleshed out the two eps that have been shown already. We are introduced to the guy with the ax, instead of him just being thrown at us like in ep 2. We see the aftermath of the Killings done at the end of ep 1. Like what was stated above by Erica, it has some information that is useful to those of us that care to know more. Most of it, I also read are parts that did not make the cut for eps 1 and 2. I feel the first ep could have been a 2 hours and I still would have sat through it all. I know it got killed in the ratings but was first for it's night and time in the 18 to 34 age group which is what the powers that be want. I hope we get to see the whole season and if not, I will watch the rest online...

and OODA, Heros has the 9 o'clock spot mondays on NBC, The Black Donnellys have the 10 o'clock spot..

The preliminary ratings showed that "The Black Donnellys" had just half the viewers of the "CSI: Miami" rerun this week. So it could be in for a huge trouncing when the new "CSI" episodes come back on. (It still beat "What About Brian?," though.)

Well, I just watched the web only episode. I didn't think it was anymore violent then the previous 2 episodes. So who knows why it didn't air on tv.

I do think that it had a lot of information that you will need. It will be interesting to see where next weeks episode will start.

If you want to keep up with all that is going on in the show, I recommend that you watch the episode. You learn a little more about the other "organizations", you get a little bit of Johnny "ice cream", and more law breaking by the boys.

I do have to admit that after watching this episode, I am a little hard press to continue watching because of all the killing/assaulting the boys do and it seems like no one ever gets caught doing it.

Also, you get a little more insight on Kate Mulgrew's character and how she "loves" her boys. It is some good parenting...reminds me of Tony Sopranos' mommy....
