CNN examines Atlanta bus crash

It blows my mind that a lot of people have forgotten that people have lost their lives including the bus driver. I am quite sure he didn't say to himself, "Wouldn't it be fun to run off a bridge and kill 7 people that would include myself and my wife."
I pray that God have mercy on you all who feel it's necessary to forget that all these people who died are someone's brother, mom, dad and loved ones in general.

lol reading this just makes me realizes how unintelligent and stupid people in this country are, maybe SOME of you need to go live in Iraq where they dont care about those who lose there lives.

Maybe if its ONE of YOUR family members you will be singing a different tune, and im sure you will be the one on camera whinning about how something must be done and it shouldnt have happened.

Stop being so heartless and apathetic, grow up, get some balls and realize that although accidents happen everyday, yes, this one is a little more grusome and that it is unusual, HELLO IS FREAKIN BUS going off a bridge, this isnt SPEED, its real life.

I also live very close to that intersection and take it daily. I have no freaking clue why people think it is any more "dangerous" than most other highway entrance/exit intersections. You go up a ramp. You stop. You make a left or right. In his case he didn't stop and went over the bridge. The reason there are accidents very often right there is people are switching lanes crazily trying to get onto the highway - but that isn't the cause of the accident or really the fault of the intersection. Most highway entrances around the connector are like that. This accident was all cleaned up by the time I went to class the following mid-morning (10-11?), not really that different than any other accident that happens in Atlanta.

The part of the highway (the connector, where 75 and 85 merge for a section of 10 miles) where he would have gone had he not gotten off is FAR more dangerous than that intersection and has FAR more accidents. And yet no one cares about those...

I have to agree with Brad. I live in Atlanta, so it's actually a pretty big deal here. Plus, CNN is in Atlanta, and as the bus was from Ohio, it actually qualifies as national news.

I also live very close to the site. It's a VERY difficult exit. I know I have been confused several times while getting off that exit, and I have lived in Atlanta for 17 years. I'm not surprised that something this tragic has happened there, and while I don't wish this accident on anyone, I'm especially saddened that this happened to a bus load of kids.
But I just wanted to say that the driver was probably not an idiot. The exit is confusing to home-grown Atlantans, so of course it is probably confusing to somebody new to the city.

This deserves an investigation. This was not a case of bad driving. The exit is a mess and I believe that the city of Atlanta should be held responsible. For Heaven's sake, 84(!) accidents have taken place in the same spot.

I used to share the sentiment, that news media all to often uses other people's suffering and sells it to the public. I still do to some extent.

But I live very close to the University in question, and my sister and a friend of mine go there. So to some degree I welcomed the large amount of news coming our way about the accident.

I guess I'm just saying that when the news focuses on tragedy, that news will be beneficial to someone somewhere. Even though it does get overblown.

i agreed, the ramp was really awkwardly design and i can definitely see why the driver got confused.

Having watched footage of driving along that highway, I can easily see why the driver got confused. It's not a clearly marked ramp, the last two signs before you hit the ramp don't say it's an exit, but they do say "HOV"

@Dwayne, you hit the nail on the head there! Mainstream media is nothing if not a constant effort to run distraction from the fact that rich, white, Christian males are screwing us all over. Unless you happen to be one of them.
