Lost Easter egg hunt: Enter 77

by Erin Martell, posted Mar 13th 2007 5:33PM

Lost's "Enter 77" episode gave us a closer look at another DHARMA station, The Flame. In the last few days, viewers have been busy finding clues about both the station and its mysterious inhabitants. The following Easter eggs have been found in last week's episode:

DHARMA Logos: In addition to the Flame logo, the symbols of other DHARMA stations could be seen in this episode. The DHARMA vodka and Merlot had Swan station labels, and the Caduceus station symbol was also visible. Do the Others move from station to station, taking different items with them? A glass eye (presumably Mikhail's) was found in The Arrow station in "The Other 48 Days."

Russian Translation: Locke found some interesting Russian documents while snooping around the new DHARMA station. Among the items mentioned: the Afghan resistance, Pakistanis, social revolution, and the names Andrey and Nadji. The handwritten notes on the document read: "My name is also Andrey" and "I have forgotten so much about Afghanistan." Mikhail claimed to have served in Afghanistan during his time with the Russian Army, but was he telling the truth? Was Mikhail taking on the identity of someone else, the way Ben pretended to be Henry Gale?

Just before Ms. Klugh's death, she and Mikhail had a heated argument in Russian. Essentially, Klugh was ordering Mikhail to shoot her, and Mikhail was resisting. Mikhail believed that there was "another way," while Klugh believed that "the circumstances" called for her death. Apparently the Others prefer death to capture as a general rule.

Games: Locke clearly has a passion for games. So far he's been shown playing Risk/Axis and Allies, backgammon, and Mousetrap. His obsession with the DHARMA chess game led to the Manual Override and the station's destruction. Locke was showing a child how to play Mousetrap when his mother appeared, leading to the kidney con. Boone was killed (thanks to Locke) later in that same episode. Is it safe to say that games are bad luck for the Lost characters?

Keep your eyes open for clues in this week's episode, "Par Avion." Happy hunting!

"since this site thinks this series peaked about 2 years ago."

I think you mean "Most of the entire world thinks this series peaked about 2 years ago."

Because it DID.

Oh good. I was thinking you'd mention the DHARMA logo on the van - like an easter egg needs to be the final camera shot before a commercial break.

Next thing yu know, you'll mention DHARMA beer - both regular and light. Oh wait, you just did mention they had vodka.

LAME.

But hey, I guess we have to take what we get... since this site thinks this series peaked about 2 years ago.

Not sure if it counts as an easter egg, but I liked how the chess board at the time the computer declared checkmate was a copy of the board during the Kasparov/Karpov championship match in 1985 when Karpov resigned. Technically mate in 2, not checkmate.

And, for the record, I didn't recognize the board on my own. I saw it on Lostpedia's entry for Flame Computer.

The fate of the islanders will ultimately be decided by a game of Chutes and Ladders, just you wait and see....

His name is most likely reference to this guy:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikhail_Bakunin

Per the Wikipedia, he is "often considered one of the 'fathers of modern anarchism'." He's also the subject of a play by Tom Stoppard, and it wouldn't surprise me if that's where the writers heard about him.
