TNT adds miniseries and two new series

by Adam Finley, posted Mar 14th 2007 4:03PM

holly hunterAs Brett mentioned last December, TNT has two new series planned: Heartland, starring Treat Williams; and Saving Grace, starring Holly Hunter (the series was originally called Grace). In Heartland, Williams plays a brilliant heart transplant surgeon who struggles with his family life. Hunter plays a police detective who's visited by an angel.

If the title Heartland sounds familiar, you might also remember it as the title of a short-lived series from 1989 starring Brian Keith about a family living on a farm in Nebraska. There was a moment when everyone cared about the plight of the farmers, so a show such as this made sense, at least briefly.

In addition to the two new series, TNT will also air the miniseries The Company, about the CIA during the Cold War. The miniseries stars Chris O'Donnell, Michael Keaton and Alfred Molina. Ridley and Tony Scott will executive produce the series, which is being written by Ken Nolan and directed by Mikael Salomon.

All three will debut sometime this summer.

Good for TNT. Something new to watch this summer. Is "The Closer" coming back with new episodes this summer also?

"Williams plays a brilliant heart transplant surgeon who struggles with his family life."

Substitute neurosurgeon for heart transplant, move his family to Colorado, and change the title to Everwood and I'll be a happy camper.

Oh, what am I saying - it's Treat as a doctor who's bad at being a dad. I'm totally watching!
