Is Fox News unfair to blacks? - VIDEO

by Adam Finley, posted Mar 19th 2007 3:04PM

Fox newsI love reporting on the occasional political stuff: it's like tossing raw meat to a pack of wild dogs and watching them tear at each other. Now read this post and fight! Fight and bite, my polemic pooches!

Sorry, I shouldn't refer to my readers as "polemic pooches," that's not very nice. Anyway, here's the news:

ColorOfChange.org, an online lobby of 70,000 members is imploring the Congressional Black Caucus Institute to reject Fox News as a partner for political debates, citing what they believe are several examples of Fox News treating blacks and their culture unfairly. A series of clips compiled by Robert Greenwald (Outfoxed) showcasing this alleged bias can be seen at the end of this post.

I don't watch Fox News, so I can't say whether any of this is true, but based only on the examples provided by Color of Change, the debate seems to be not about race, but about a difference in socio-political opinion. This seems more about "liberal versus conservative" than anything else. At any rate, I'll let you guys decide for yourselves what all this is really about.

My ex-boyfriend dumped me a week ago after I accused him of seeing someone else and insulting him. I want him back in my life but he refuse to have any contact with me. I was so confuse and don't know what to do, so I reach to the internet for help and I saw a testimony of how a spell caster help them to get their ex back so I contact the spell caster and explain my problem to him and he cast a spell for me and assure me of 3days that my ex will return to me and to my greatest surprise the third day my ex came knocking on my door and beg for forgiveness. I am so happy that my love is back again and not only that, we are about to get married. Once again thank you MALLAM ABUDU spell. You are truly talented and gifted. Email: mallamabudu_spiritualhealer@yahoo.com is the only answer. He can be of great help and I will not stop publishing him because he is a wonderful man

Vulgarities, obscenities and name-calling. The true signature of a well thought out argument.

William Shakespeare couldn't have said it any better when he penned "...it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."

Let me guess...

-High school or community college kid.
-Lives off Mommy's money.
-Gets his political views from MTV and CNN.
-No regular girlfriend, so...
-...gets his jollies being a smartass online since he fails at everything else.
-Will vehemently deny all of this and claim he's a well-off, success of a man, because claims are all he's got.

Both funny and sad at the same time! LOL!!
(Hurts when the nail is hit on the head, doesn't it?)

Hey, Nick. Emily and I are kicking back on my couch watching a Michael Moore flick. Wanna come? Oooh! Wait... She already did. Twice. Now she's making me a sandwich.

Seriously, neo-con turd burglar, I'm not using a name that's not my regular here for one simple reason. I don't HAVE a regular name here. It's only seeing the crap you spew that's inspired me to jump into the cesspool. 99 times out of 100, I'm content to just read the posts here as a lurker.

Fox News is not unfair to blacks. To find racism in the media you have to go to liberal outlets like the LA Times.

Unless it was another Emily, I *do* remember you. I have an edge, however, since there's a person of very great significance in my life who's named "Emily", so that makes remembering the name very easy.

If I recall, your comments were always well thought out, free of spelling errors (for that I'll always be grateful!) and not the least bit mean or controversial. Unlike some of mine. :o)

I fear a lot of people confuse News Commentary programs with the real News. Sheppard Smith is the headliner News man for Fox and I have never heard anything derogatory about him in regards to slanting the information towards the right (I'm sure someone has, I just haven't heard it). Pundits like Hannity and O'Reilly keep their jobs because they fire people up, cause controversy and grab viewers.

Erroneous_nick: I am the contributor formerly known as Emily and changed by handle when TVS stopped the star awards. I have been visiting this site for almost 2 years and it is one of my favorites.

Plain and simple... FoxNews is more open to attacks than CNN because they are more controversial. That is what gets them viewers. So e-nick if you don't like that, call FN and tell them to be more mainstream and centrist.

Personally I would rather FN went off the air. Not because they are conservative, but because they practice irresponsible journalism... or no journalism at all in my opinion. They push their agenda by making things up and attacking the other side. If you are a conservative and your support a channel of lies, then shame on you. I would not support a centrist channel telling lies or a liberal channel telling lies. Plain and simple.

Actually I'll take it a step further. Sometimes the politicians I support screw up badly and it takes me a second or two to criticize them just because they are mostly in sink with what I think. I think that same happens with FoxNews viewers. I'm sure most of you don't always like what you see or hear from Hannity and the rest but because they are pushing your agenda (actually ramming it down people's throats) you are blind to their tactics. I would respect FN viewers a lot more if they came out and said it: "yes FoxNews is a 100% conservative/Christian-right mouth piece that uses nasty tactics to make the other side look bad.. but I love what they say and love that it is on the air." People just own up. Actually if you did, I would respect you a lot more and actually congratulate you, because I think that the right in this country has done an amazing job at taking command of the media (FN and talk radio) yet have made people think that the media is still liberal... brilliant!!

Thanks, "stars", it's nice to have a little support, or at least someone who's not rabidly against me! :o)

I don't believe I can accept the moniker of "plank owner" since I have only been "here" for about a year, maybe a bit less. My memory isn't what it used to be, or at least that's the way I remember it.

Mike, at least *read* what I've posted before getting started. I never claimed Fox News was fair, in fact, I stated they're conservative. I don't think any news outlets are "fair". And if you were as smart as your smart-ass you'd know I was ragging TV Squad for always having something negative to say about Fox and conservatives, while giving CNN and liberals a pass. Talk about knee-jerk reactions.

I was also giving Adam what he wished for: a fight. He wanted to toss meat to the wild dogs, I just invited him into the pen and he gladly complied. To his credit, he fought back using his name and not a one-time, hit-em-like-a-sissy nickname. (At least I don't think he did, but how could I tell anyway?)

And, of course my regular nick isn't "erroneous_nick". I only use it when I want to bitch about articles like this, comment on shows I like, participate in "Subtle Subtitles", agree with an article's perspective, disagree with an article's perspective, discuss the merits of a show covered in a TV Squad article, send tips to the tips line, send corrections to the corrections line, enter contests, comment on Brigitte's TV Squad Daily and everything else on TV Squad. For the rest I change it because I'm afraid to express how I really feel.
