Prison Break: Panama

by Paul Goebel, posted Mar 20th 2007 11:44AM

Prison Break(S02E20) Even though I loved this episode, I watched the whole thing in fear of suddenly hearing the Van Halen song.

I love it when the show starts out with pure action. Sucre and Bellick chasing down T-Bag was a great way to begin the episode. I guess it's no accident that Bellick continues to team up with the escapees to get his job done. Clearly he has more in common with them than he realizes.

I'm also very happy that C-Note survived. I was getting tired of Mahone's "final solution." Let's not forget, aside from Linc, C-Note is the only escapee who was actually innocent. Seeing him walk out of prison with his family was awesome. I'm sure we haven't seen the last of him, but at least his family is relatively safe.

Once again, Mahone has a complete breakdown. I swear this guy gets more and more like John Nash every week. They say if you want to catch a criminal, you have to think like a criminal or in Mahone's case, a complete psycho.

I have to take a moment to acknowledge the all too brief appearance of Alex Meneses (T-Bag's victim). Alex is one of the hottest and least appreciated actresses in Hollywood. In case you're unfamiliar with her work, I suggest you check out Amanda and the Alien.

As the episode wrapped up, I was nice to finally see Michael taking responsibility for all the collateral damage his plan has caused. Was it really worth everything that happened just to save the life of his brother? Did he really think he could expose what is clearly the biggest political scandal since the Teapot dome? Most importantly, as Michael and Linc walked on the beach, I kept expecting Hurley to walk up and say, "Dude, got any Pop Tarts on your boat?"

is it just me or is keith the most vocal (and bitchy?) reviewer on this site? keith, you know your reviews weren't 'classic' or 'cogent' or 'good' so just take it in stride and write about a show you actually like and i'm sure you'll get heaps of praise.

i cant wait until this show ends though. im watching it just to know how it wraps up. its like a car crash in slow motion. you know how its going to end, just need to see how it get there.

if anyone think this show 'never lost a step' or 'hasn't turned to shit' needs to watch decent shows like the wire or six feet under or even the office to see how shows can last more than season without losing all focus.

I think all these comments are great. I love Prison Break. The best show on TV. I hope they do break Sara out of jail for the next season. After reading this, it seems like the most likely choice. She should come before T-bag. Maybe they could have Sara give a needle to go byebye.

Keith, it isn't fair to call what you wrote a "review," so much as it was a complaint list of ills with the show. Please don't martyr yourself over the blogging of a TV show. It's very petty and stupid.

Re: the complex tattoo, if the combination was to a safe, sure I could see that. But it was to a very easy-to-be-cut lock.

It was a better episode than usual, but I'm sure if I reviewed it I would've been cut to shreds.

Jeff and Keepitreal,

I thought the same thing. The only thing that I could come up with as to why he needed a symbol of his mothers name is so that he would know what the 617 belonged to. Remember he had a lot of numbers to keep track of (screw sizes, dates, etc.) so a random combination # might get lost in the shuffle. This way he had an association for it.

jeff, gotta agree here. while i believe in suspension of disbelief, putting the final destination of one's escape plan in the form of a tattoo is a little much. that might need to be the one thing you keep in the back of your head instead of on your body.

i think the writers, with a little more effort could have arrived at the same ending (the showdown in panama) without such an un-michael like error in judgement. yes i know he wasnt necessarily expecting his tattoos to be so closely examined but it would never be out of the realm of possibility so why risk it.

My favourite part was how Michael needed a complex tattoo to remember the name of his mother.

Prison Break never lost its stride, and last night they upped the game.

C-Note: I'm glad C-Note and his family are now free and clear. Of course, with The Company backing Mahone and C-Note as a liability, that house of cards could collapse at any second.

Sarah: She desrves to be rescued by Michael just for sacrificing herself to allow the brothers to escape. I agree: Season 3 is all about breaking Sarah out of jail!

Sucre: Always great to see Sucre. Hopefully, he will stay one step ahead of Bellick in thought processes (if not physically) and find Maricruz.

T-Bag: Nasty as always!

The Brothers: Who didn't see this one coming? With Sarah in custody and T-Bag on the loose, they were bound to come to this division. Michael, who has always been the responsible one, is finally seeking to tie up loose ends. Linc wants to run but I suspect will be pulled back in due to his loyalty and gratitude to Michael. This leads to...

NEXT EPISODE: The big family reunion in Panama! All our surviving major players (except for C-Note)together for one big showdown. Who lives? Who dies? Who gets the money? I LOVE THIS SHOW...

Um, C-Note wasn't innocent. Even though he wasn't a bad person, he did commit a crime (remember, he went to jail for the trafficking, NOT for the black market trade in Iraq; although even that would still be considered "guilty.")

Good episode, though.
