Michael Emerson hints at Lost surprises

Michael Emerson, Matthew Fox, and Elizabeth MitchellMichael Emerson recently did an interview with The Trades, and the Lost actor gave his own interpretation of the enigmatic Ben Linus. He also hinted at the possibility of a Ben flashback, and discussed upcoming episode twists. Here's a brief recap of the major points covered in the interview:

  • Emerson is currently deciding whether or not to attend his high school reunion. He believes that his fame might overshadow the event, making things "uncomfortable" for his former classmates. How different from Ben, who thrives on making people uncomfortable!
  • The actor believes that the Others periodically need "fresh blood" to come to the island in order to preserve their community.
  • A Ben back story episode is in the works, probably for season four.
  • According to Emerson, the cast is currently filming an episode in which "one set of interlocking back stories is brought to its resolution." Many fans have speculated that Locke's father will turn out to be the original Sawyer--could this be what Emerson meant? Perhaps Claire and Jack's connection?
  • He enjoys working in an ensemble cast, particularly when it results in some much-needed down time.
  • The actor thinks that Ben has a romantic side, and possibly dreams of having a more conventional life.

"Exposé," the newest episode of Lost, airs Wednesday, March 28.

It seems like to me that a BIG unanswered question is why The Others know so much about the Lost survivors.

Could it not be a mistake that these people came together on the island? And that the plane exploded?

Maybe that is the resolution to the entire show because clearly there is a lot more going on than meets the eye. Or maybe I am just full of shit.
