Survivor Fiji: An Evil Thought

by Deidre Woollard, posted Mar 30th 2007 6:50AM
survivor(S14E07) Tonight I learned that I am not so much cheering for any tribe as I am for two players, namely Yau-Man and Earl. In this rather lackluster season these are the ones who keep me interested in the game. Not necessarily for their shrewd playing, although they are good players, but for their ability to keep themselves and the audience entertained with their antics.

Yau-Man is adorable when he finds the idol, he is absolutely filled with glee. He also does a brilliant job of covering his digging tracks. And I like that he immediately told Earl.

This episode's reward challenge involves a trip to an arcade. Rocky is thrilled at the prospect of beer. The challenge is a fun one, it involves lobbing fireballs at targets. Mookie seems to be mocking Yau-Man but Yau-Man hits the target. In the end, Ravu finally wins a challenge. And suddenly Rocky loves Dreamz.

The new Ravu gets to eat hot dogs and play games. Lisi seems to be fitting in with the boys. But all the gorging leaves some people with upset stomachs. Rocky however, uses the opportunity of Alex, Edgardo and Lisi's stomach upset to make fun of them. At this point, my watching companion starting waving goodbye to Rocky on the screen because it is clear that should Ravu lose, the Boston boy is in major jeopardy.

How adorable is Earl, creating "Earl Island" out of Exile Island. And how sneaky is Yau creating a fake immunity idol. My goodness, he is an evil genius. I love it!

The immunity challenge involves being blindfolded with a caller leading the tribe. We've seen variations of this challenge before but this time there is also a puzzle aspect. Interesting choice of music tonight to heighten the drama. Michelle is adorably plucky as a caller especially when she gets excited and falls off the platform. It's strange how much I love Moto now. But without Lisi and with Yau, Michelle and Earl they are just a more likable tribe. They win immunity yet again and I am actually happy because except for Stacy there isn't anyone there who needs to go.

And so the question for Ravu is, how annoying is Rocky versus how useless is Lisi? The former Moto crowd wants Rocky out but Mookie tries to get him to stay. But Lisi with her rather dimwitted bag of clues as to the location of the other hidden immunity idol is just marginally more of a keeper. Rocky is definitely sandbagged and so very bitter in his closing words. Maybe now Ravu might win one but frankly I just don't care anymore. It's like last season when I was quite content to just watch the intrepid four of Aitu, I'd be quite happy to watch Ravu slowly get eliminated.

I was totally convinced it was going to be a tie. With 3 for Lisi and 3 for Rocky. I thought Dreamz had decided to vote Lisi off. Which did seem strange to me at the time because I thought that he and Rocky didn't get along that well.

I guess Dreamz changed his mind or was lying.

Thanks Kyle! I thought the same thing about Yau-man looking like Gollum when he found the immunity idol. As for the "idle" idol Yau-man made: Wouldn't that be great if someone found it and broke it out at tribal counsel to save themselves from being voted off, only to be told it was a fake? That would be terrible but in a good way!

I was thrilled to see Rocky voted out until I heard Jeff say the he was the first member of the jury. How's that going to work? We started with 19, 7 have been voted out so there's 12 left. Is the three person finale the new Survivor standard?

I've been waiting all season for someone to root for...FINALLY...GO Earl and Yao-man! Loved that Rocky went home, and that he was clueless as to how his comments wer being taken.

I almost peed my pants when Michelle fell off of the platform during the immunity challenge.

That was quite possibly the funniest thing I have ever seen on Survivor.

Did anybody else feel like the reward challenge was edited?? I have felt like that on a few episodes already.

Creating Earl Island was hilarious. He had really thought it out. I guess that's what you do when you have absolutely nothing else to do. Yau-Man was pissing me off when he first found the Idol. He was acting like Gollum. My precious and all that. Then he finally said he was going to share it. What really won me over was when he created the fake idol. That was genius.

Also ding dong the bully is gone!

Rocky has had so much camera time this season, it's difficult telling who's going to get the focus now. Notice most of the attention is lavished on the tribe that seems to always be losing?
