Reno 911!: Episode 408

by Adam Finley, posted Apr 2nd 2007 11:41AM

reno 911(S04E08) Yeah, I know the title of the episode isn't really "Episode 408," but the real titles never pop up until a few days after the show airs, at least not on the sites I check. If any of you lovely readers knows where I can find the actual episode titles, let me know in the comments. I'll give you mad props.

As a fan of Reno 911 since the very beginning, it's difficult for me to say this: the show isn't as good as it used to be. Of course, when a show is improvised like Reno, there are always moments of genius, but there are just two many instances of the same jokes, or gags you see coming a mile away. The opening scene with the bomb inside the bus would have been funnier had it not been obvious from the beginning that the bus was going to explode.

Reno used to be much more consistent, but this season (which actually began in July and then stopped while the movie was being filmed, despite the graphic before this episode claiming it was the "season premiere") has been scatter shot at best. I haven't completely given up on the show, because as I said, there are still moments that are really, really funny. The sequence in which a Klansman proposes to his black wife while another Klansman serenades them on violin almost had me on the floor, I was laughing so hard. Eventually, though, the episode devolved into a series of fart jokes. Of course, that may just be a matter of personal taste: I've just never been that fond of scatological humor.

Perhaps next week's episode will be better. Lord knows I don't want to write a review every week saying how disappointed I am in the show, cause that'd like, totally harsh everyone's buzz, man.

I'm definitely excited about the new season, since the movie wasn't anything TOO spectacular (altho swardson's always a genius--"I like your hair": so great).

It's nice to have some new storylines to reference back to.

Reno hasn't been a source of any huge laughs for me, and at times it is predictable, but it's still just as entertaining as day 1 of when I started viewing the show.
