Black Donnellys going on hiatus

by Bob Sassone, posted Apr 3rd 2007 9:06AM

The Black DonnellysAnother day, another show put on hiatus.

This time, it's The Black Donnellys. The NBC family crime drama, which replaced Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (itself currently on hiatus), will go on hiatus starting April 23. The show hasn't been doing too well in the ratings in the Monday at 10 slot.

And I know you're wondering: will Studio 60 return? Nope, at least not in that time slot. But for you fans of reality show, you're in luck! The Real Wedding Crashers, a new reality show based on the hit movie, will air in the Monday at 10 slot. NBC was going to put it on another night but they liked it so much (so much!!) that they're going to put it on after Heroes. The April 23 date is also the day that Heroes returns.

So, two quality dramas are put on the shelf, next to months of old boxes of macaroni and cheese, so another reality show can debut early. Fantastic.

The Black Donnellys is one of the best shows on TV. Thank you Mark Cuban and HDnet for airing all 13 episodes. Wednesday night June 13th the pilot aired and the quality was excellent.

So i dont watch tv for over a year cause i dont want to pay for tv. Then i spend over 2 grand on HD tvs and get hooked on the first show i come accross, The Black Donnellys. Now its gone... What a load of crap just for some stupid shows you could prolly see on you tube or the same kind of thing anyways. Yeah! I miss the old days whenyou watched tv and had something to talk about the whole week while you waited for the next episode just to see if you were right or wrong on what was going to happen next. Now i see my HD tvs doing what my older models did... sitting and waiting for a dvd to be put in so it can be used. Thanks a bunch NBC (Now Broadcasting Crap)!!!

The Black Donnellys was the best show NBC has had in a long time, and now they are going to cancel? Finally something other than gameshows or REALITY TV...what a shame...GO ABC I guess!

I'm SO extremely disappointed in the cancellation!!! I never never watch TV because it is all reality and I was so thrilled to see a great dark drama FINALLY!!! Not everyone wants to see another pre-scripted so called "real"ity show. PLease put the Donelleys back on.

My daughter and I liked this show it was good old neighborhood gone bad and by the way is "reality" in parts of the cities- so there we had reality, action, a little romance thrown in and that old mobster attitude- so what was wrong with that? Had a little bit of everything for everyone. So tired of all the forensics and Law and Orders and now the wedding crashers- go rent the movie!!

The Black Donnellys was a great show. Watching it was almost like reading a book. There was more going on than just what was shown in the scenes. So much plot and emotion. It was mysterious, you didn't know what was going to happen, yet it didn't become a boring, predictable, serious crime drama. The inexperienced, young characters make all kinds of stupid mistakes taking us down another road than the normal crime drama. This series had it all. Comedy, drama, love, anger, fear betrayal, sadness...It engaged you entirely. It put you in the show with the characters feeling their pain, and trying to understand them.
Sorry for the long post but, to say it's "thought provoking" is just not quite enough.

The best way we can support the show is to download the eps through iTunes and watch it online. NBC is still doing to show the unaired eps online. If enough people do this, it might give them a hint that they've done a great mistake.

I feel like smashing something... preferably some NBC exec's windshield.
