Would you go to Scranton for an Office convention?

The OfficeHere's a question for all those obsessive (and not-as-obsessive) fans of The Office out there: Would you travel all the way to Scranton, PA, to attend a convention of the show's fans?

That's what a local group is hoping, according to The Times-Tribune of Scranton. Apparently, there is an increase of people coming to the city to find the sites seen on the show and to go to the restaurants and bars mentioned by the denizens of Dunder-Mifflin. A well-attended guest appearance by Rainn Wilson at a local mall convinced the organizers, which include some prominent residents and government officials, that such a convention could be possible.

At first, I thought that I'd never go to such a convention, even though Scranton's only about 90 minutes from where I live. Even if some of the show's stars showed up, I still figured it wouldn't be worth it. But then I realized that an Office convention would have what other conventions -- like those for Star Trek or other similar shows -- don't: women! In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if an Office convention would be split down the middle, gender-wise. So, if you're a lonely guy looking to bond with the opposite sex over your favorite TV show, watch your calendar; a fall trip to Scranton may be in your future.

Have you researched conventions at ALL? Apparently you haven't, because conventions of all kinds are attended by huge amounts of women all the time. There are conventions for other shows, like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Angel, Veronica Mars, Harry Potter, Smallville, Supernatural, etc. etc. with tons of female fans. In fact, those conventions are PRIMARILY women...and very few men. Do your research.

Anyway, seeing as though I live 10 minutes from Scranton, I will be there.

if none of the Actors are attending, then only the saddest losers will be there.

if you have any kind of a social life, have had sex more than 3 times with a non-hooker, then PLS STAY AWAY.

Nah. I'd first have to visit Wilmington, VA to see if they now opened a church of Scientology now that Joey ... *rolleyes*

This company sells office supplies out of a town that is as boring as a grey jacket. Why on _earth_ would you go there?

I'd rather visit the fish-restaurant the hot girl who tried to feel what was inside that guy's jacket on Letterman works at in uptown New York near the Canadian Border. At least there'd be a hot girl and good food and a possible visit to Canada.

And on the way I'd visit OCC and annoy the Tutules with my nasty german accent *snicker*

Eh, it's only an hour south of here so why not... especially if Jenna Fischer would be there.

as long as at least one of my celebrity wish list (J-Kras, Rainn or Carell) showed up... I'd totally make the road trip

Having been to Scranton once or twice, it's not a terrible place to be by any means.

Well, my family did take a long detour through Scranton when going from Ottawa to NYC. Tried to find Poor Richard's, but the timing didn't work out.
