Andy Barker, P.I. canceled

Oh, come on!

NBC has canceled Andy Barker, P.I. After airing only four episodes, the network sent the remaining two episodes to Saturdays and Scrubs will air in its place starting this Thursday night (that was already the plan, it's just happening earlier).

This is so depressing. Did anybody see the chicken episode two weeks ago? I howled with laughter over that one. Admittedly, last week's episode wasn't that great. According to The Futon Critic, Barker had its lowest ratings last week with 1.8. I'd like to know what kind of numbers NBC had on its website, where it posted all six episodes of Andy Barker for free before it even premiered on the network.

I just knew that it wasn't going to survive because A) Andy Richter is cursed, B) People wouldn't get it, and C) NBC wasn't going to give it a chance. You have to watch closely to see past the main story of Andy, the naive CPA-turned private investigator and find the humor in the supporting characters. Tony Hale as a video store geek and Marshall Manesh as an Afghani restaurant owner had hilarious lines, but maybe they weren't obvious enough to people.

Why would NBC put Andy Barker against No. 1 Grey's Anatomy and No. 2 CSI? Didn't they know that it'd be crushed in the ratings? Everybody watches those shows--they won't watch anything else. They should have put it on a night against little competition or a highly watched show.

Arty, chance taking shows don't always do well on the networks. I think that if NBC wasn't so caught up in their Law and Order franchise shows, Andy Richter's show would still be on. Andy's too talented an actor and comedian to be treated like this! I hope he stars in another show soon.

Why did they have to cancel a show that is so witty, well written and laugh out loud funny!??? Every time they had scenes in the Afghan restaurant I would have to pause my DVR to take in all the hilarious props in the background. Please bring it back!!!! Conan is an excellent writer like Tina Fey. Her show is a hit-give this show a chance too!!! It is just as funny if not funnier!!!
Thanks for letting me vent...

All I have to say is that it's a good thing NBC execs didn't plan D-Day or we'd all be goose-steppin around a giant SCHNITZEL!

I was looking in this thursdays listing and couldn't find Andy Barker P.I., I was so upset I had to look on the web and found that it was cancelled! I'm soooooo MAD!!!! I love this show! How could this happen? Maybe if everyone contacts NBC and beg them, they will continue airing this show. Tell them to show Andy Barker on another day because I'm sure CSI and greys anatomy is so well known that people won't even look at any other shows.

Subtle humor? This show was as predictable as can be. You could see every joke coming from a mile away. Wasn't funny, won't miss it.

Why don't shows like this get pitched to hbo, showtime or fx? At least they'd order a dozen episodes and air all of them.

This is TERRIBLE news! The show is good and funny and very sweet and I feel cheated. No chance they'd change their minds, is there? Idiots!
