Some pilot casting news: HBO's True Blood; CW's Eight Days a Week

by Adam Finley, posted Apr 9th 2007 10:20AM

tvHere's what's happening in the world of pilot casting, courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter:

Stephen Moyer will play a vampire opposite Anna Paquin's mind-reading waitress in Six Feet Under creator Alan Ball's new series for HBO, True Blood. The series is based on the Southern Vampire book series by Charlaine Harris about vampires who live on synthetic blood.

Brook Kerr of Passions was also cast in the pilot, which Ball wrote and will also direct.

Johnny Lewis, Mario Lopez, Robert Ri'chard, and Christina Milian will star in Eight Days a Week on the CW. The show focuses on young "movers and shakers" in New York. Lopez will play the boss.

The new series Hell on Earth, about a woman sent not to Hell but to Hell on Earth has cast Kyla Pratt in the lead as a privliged girl sent from Hell back to Earth.

Also on the CW, Cynthia Addai-Robinson and Bert Belasco have been added to Dash 4 Cash, a fictional series about a reality series about a cross-country race.

Over at CBS, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Leslie Bibb have been cast as a couple who meet at a funeral in Atlanta.

Tembi Locke, Jon Rowland, Rod Rowland, Scarlett Chorvat and Diego Serrano have been cast in Born in the USA, a blue-collar drama for FOX.

UPDATE: In an earlier draft of this post I said David Cross was in Hell on Earth. That is wrong. Cross is actually in another series called I'm in Hell.

All of the shows sound retarded, and seems like CW screwed up when they canceled Runaway. All networks need more comedy and less drama.
