MSNBC suspends Don Imus

by Bob Sassone, posted Apr 10th 2007 7:33AM

ImusTalk show host Don Imus has been suspended from his show by both CBS Radio and MSNBC, which telecasts his radio show every morning. The suspension is for two weeks but doesn't start until next Monday.

This is because Imus referred to the Rutgers women's basketball team as "nappy-headed hos." Imus went on Al Sharpton's radio show on Monday and, as Howard Stern pointed out today, probably made things worse by the apology he made there and other comments he made.

MSNBC says that any "any future relationship with Imus is contingent on his ability to live up to his word." I wonder why the suspension doesn't start til next Monday. Do they want the ratings bump the controversy is going to create? Will Imus talk about it on his show the next four days? CNN has certainly been talking about it all day.

Why is Sharpton still on the air with his radio program? Where is his appology to the Duke La'Cross Players for His and Jackson's slanderess rants? Why is Rush Limbaugh still on the air, He also says racist things on the air that offend me, can I get a march going to have him fired? What Imus said was wrong and I am not even an Imus fan but the punnishment does noy fit the crime.

Living in San Diego, I often listen to Imas at 3 am our time. He is not a racist! He apologized for his mistake many times, even after he was fired and diid not have to do so. I will not patronize his sponsors who jumped ship!!!

Al Sharpton has a radio show and I do believe that back in the day he was a rapist and had something to do with the death of another person. Why isn't that brought up? To me that is worse than Imus and his comments no matter how horrible they were and then there is the adulterer Jesse Jackson, nuff said.

I agree IQ. However, whether the things he did in the past are true or not he should never be saying these things. My recent studies take me to believe that he sounds like a sociopath and those types of people have no conscience nor reason to care for anyone else nor their feelings. If this history is true God help us because why do we have people like this even loose or existing on our planet for that matter.

Imus was just speaking ebonies..
This is the black language, invented by African Americans.

Is it reason to loose your job over by speaking a foreign lanquage, in the USA.

MR IMUS SHOULD DO HIS HOMEWORK..HE WILL PROBABLY LEARN THAN AT LEAST ONE OF THE GIRLS ON THE TEAM WAS AND MAYBE STILL A PERSON WHO SELLS SEX FOR MONEY... I THINK HE WAS JUST A LITTLE TONGUE TWISTED..HE MEANT THAT IT WAS A NAPPY HAIR WHORE WHO LOOKED FOR THE THREE RICHEST MEN ON THE DUKE'S FOOTBALL TEAM, AND THEN CONTACTED THE BILLIONAIRE LAWYER FROM GEORGIA WHO FLYS IN HIS PRIVATE JET AND NEVER LOOSES A CASE. MAYBE WAS THIS ATTORNEY WHO DID THE RESEARCH ON THE PLAYERS
FAMILIES FINANCES AND THOUGHT HE COULD GET AN OFFER TO MAKE THE CASE GO AWAY...KEEP WORKING ON THIS MR. IMUS; THIS COULD PROVE TO BE VERY INTERESTING.

Where is the Sharpton/Brawley hospital wing?
Where is the Jackson/Hymie ranch for kids with cancer?
Where is the Farrakhan foundation for Sickle Cell Anemia?
Name me one African/American that does anything about SIDS except create a replacement that will be on welfare soon
enough!

Black vs. White, Shiite vs Sunni, Hindu vs Muslim, Protestant vs Catholic (Ireland), Tutsi vs Hutu, Buddhists vs Muslims.....All B.S.

It's all about power - perceived or real.

sharpton wants more. jackson wants more. They are total egotists who want to hear their own names & see their own pictures on the NEWS. ( Lower case names are intentional.)

Mr. Everyday American - black, white ,plaid, etc. - should be outraged at how these clowns think they speak for each ethnic group.

al Sadr & the ayatollahs are the same as SHARPTON.

I am a 70+ white man who grew up in a mixed Black/White neighborhood in Jersey City, NJ , have a Masters Degree from Rutgers and have travelled over more than half the world. I have friends that are Black, Jewish, Arab,Indian , Pakastani, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Latino, Native American among others.

What we are seeing is a major sickness being festered by a few.

Thanks for this opportunity.

I am sorry that Imus did something so stupid, but I am sorrier that someone like Al Sharpton was able to influence the outcome. I just can't get past the deviousness of that man and the Tawana Brawley debacle. I applaud the ladies from Rutgers; they handled themselves like true champions. I know we will see and hear from Imus, again---heck Bill Maher is back on the air!

Ok the guy messed up. He actually spoke out what he apparently feels inside. Granted he should have exercised wisdom, caution, and compassion, which he did not. But he is human just like the rest of us. I don't believe there is one person on the face of the earth who has not at one time or another spoken out without thinking first. Let him who is without quilt cast the first stone. I am more than curious as to why a Pastor would have such a known outspoken person on his talkshow. I have a job working for a school district where students of all ages, can say whatever they want to me or about me. This ranges from sexual, racial, and judgemental to insulting and open lies, but their rights are upheld, regardless how I feel about it. What is the difference? One is well known, therefore they become a living target, so that everybody can jump on the ," Let's make this a crusade", bandwagon

I think this has gone too far If I was Imus, I'd tell Sharpton to kiss my white ass and see how he likes that. Sharpton should not be allowed to have as much power as he has. He's a no body to begin with. If he's a reverand I'm a priest. Sharpton is nothing more than A FAT ASSED BIG MOUTH. The only reason no one has shot his dumb ass is because no one wants to make him a martyr and that's what would happen. Because of his and Jesse I'll bet the Reverand Dr. King a really good man and a gentle men is turning over in his grave. They are an embaressment to their race. That's coming from a Native American and damned proud of it.
