The Daily Show: April 11, 2007
"The Newborn Identity": A little more Anna Nicole Smith coverage. Senior Caribbean Analyst Rob Riggle acted like a complete ass to reflect Larry Birkhead's reaction. I was really annoyed by Riggle in this piece, so... I guess he did his job well. Jon Stewart met confused kids at Camera Three to explain why not everyone's having a "who's the daddy?" crisis. At that low angle, I saw the double-blue thing in the background and realized that they've really gone overkill with those marquees. Tone down some of the flashiness, please."Clusterfuck to the White House": Oh, NO! Just when I thought that the annoying swooshy noise had finally gone, it suddenly appeared during the news portion of the show! Boo. BOO, I SAY. They need to get rid of that sound completely. It reminds me of those annoying effects that beginners over-use in PowerPoint. And I've never seen that video of Giuliani-in-drag getting assaulted by Donald Trump, so I was pretty horrified. Scary.
The night's guest was Halle Berry, star of the upcoming film Perfect Stranger. There was a lot of lovin' going on in this interview... Jon thinks Halle smells pretty, Halle thinks Jon is super-cool. Hugs and kisses, hugs and kisses. All in all, it was a very fluffy entertainment interview without much substance. By the way, Halle's in the latest issue of Esquire and her body is insane. No wonder Jon turned into a giddy schoolboy (multiple times) in front of her.
Jon/Stephen: Using the classic "monkey washing a cat" footage. Hurrah! Moment of Zen: Who should get Anna Nicole Smith's baby?!
