CSI: Lab Rats

CSI: Lab Rats

(S07E20) I've got to be honest. After the previews for this episode, I was psyched. What a cool idea to finally feature all the lab techs in an episode. Not so much. This ended up just being a fancy way to roll out a clip show as a refresher to anyone who wanted to brush up on the history of the Miniature Killer. With no actual story, the episode was packed with scenes from the previous Miniature Killer murders. So while everyone else got wrapped up in other nondescript cases, Hodges and the rest of the techs weaved us a narrative we've already heard.

I suppose this episode fuels the fire for people who suspect Hodges to be the killer. If there's one thing we've learned from CSI, it's that killers often like to inject themselves into their own cases. I'm not sold on him yet. He seems genuine and he also made a good point -- he's always working, so when would he have had time to pull all this off?

The ending offered us the only new bit of information as Hodges finally discovered a connection between all four of the miniature replicas: bleach. Izzy Delancey had a bottle in the trash. The chicken plant had an industrial sized barrel of it. The dead therapist's apartment had some in the flower vases. And finally, the little old lady was clipping coupons for it.

Other stuff:

  • Doc Robbins and Grissom chasing that rat around was hilarious.
  • Grissom is praising Hodges now for his discovery, but what happens when he finds out that Hodges and Wendy called the phone number in the file?
  • Sara still seems to be very set on making sure no one at the office knows about her and Grissom's relationship. It's got to come out at some point though, right?
  • Archie calling Hodges a "glory whore" was probably the highlight of the episode.

rating 2Bleach?!? That's it? It took a whole episode to get to that? It's too bad because this could have been so much better had they given the lab techs something big to uncover. This was almost a 1, but the few funny moments get it a bump to 2. The rest of this season had better be good, because this was just a ton of filler.

as far as clip shows run, this was one of the more interesting ones. having the regulars in the background being the comic relief was funny. Doc's fear of rats was hilarious.

Hodges' being called a 'glory whore' was indeed the highlight of the show. i had to back up and watch that part over and over again.

funny, tho, i never thought of Hodges as the killer. yes, he plays games and he did score that one game on ebay. we all have something we obsess on of our younger years. i for one, collect boba fett items and that does not make me a killer. heh heh.

all i can say is hodges is the killer he has a man crush on Grissom that would explain the miniture killers connection to Grissom and hodges is always tring to impress Grissom also hodges is into toys and things this is justified by the email he got in this show and his next victum is going to be sara because he is jealous of the relationship sara and grissom have

For once I agree with Jonathan. This was a lousy clip show. But then again, I hate clip shows. I really do.

And I hate Hodges. I hope he does because I can't stand his forever butt-kissing up to Grissom.

I have to agree with David - even though they did seem to be setting up Hodges to be the killer - I have a feeling he is going to be the next victim. Especially now that the miniature killer has his cell phone number.

I loved it! It's good when a show that's been on for so many seasons takes a chance and tries something different.

Go Hodges!

Man stop the whining.

Best clip show ever. Better than the Scubs one we had this season. I really needed a brush up on the whole Miniature Killer storyline and this was the best possible way to do that. And if you look closely there weren't that many clips either. The show maybe hat 20% clips, that's hardly really a clip show.

And this way when we return to the revelation-episode for who the miniature killer is it will be much easier to follow. I for one forgot so many details that I might feel lost during that episode which hopefully will be the next one.

And what I honestly don't get: last week people thought Hodges was the miniature killer and now that he has a moment they think he's going to die.

The only one who might die is blonde cop and her just because she has so few episodes to appear in. And honestly I don't see anybody dieing because if this whole bleach thing is really true, then I don't really see the connection to anybody else than Crissom because HE got the last miniature directly delivered to him.

If anyone is going to be a target it's his girlfriend nobody knows of EXCEPT maybe the person who showed to know every detail of the person he killed. THAT would be the real kicker.

Yup, I was very disappointed to find out it was a basically a recap of the murders. Like you, I was excited when I saw it was going to focus on the lab rats. I was looking for a more unique episode than what we got.
