Goodbye Joan Rivers, hello Lisa Rinna

by Bob Sassone, posted Apr 18th 2007 6:23PM

Joan RiversFirst they were kicked to the curb by E! Entertainment Television, and now the same thing has happened with the TV Guide Channel: Joan and Melissa Rivers have been let go by the network and replaced by Lisa Rinna, star of Dancing with the Stars and various soaps.

Joan has a lot to say about what happened, but is keeping quiet until a new deal is finalized, says her spokesperson.

I love the press release from TV Guide Channel President Ryan O'Hara. Let me translate his remarks:

"TV Guide Channel is very appreciative of Joan and Melissa Rivers contributions to the success of our red-carpet programming over the past three years."

We don't need them anymore.

"We wish them them the best in their future endeavors."

Seriously, are you still here? Get out!

"Lisa has the perfect mix of charisma, poise and experience to lead our live red- carpet coverage at the major industry award shows."

We don't have to pay her as much as Joan.

Iwill never forget how imposibly rude Joan was to Kevin Coster and his fiancee....she made fun of the engagement ring (which was an heirloom)....I felt so bad for the young lady and for Costner as well.

Wherever they end up I'll watch them if my system gets the channel. I've ALWAYS enjoyed them even when Joan makes errors or has no clue who she's talking to (them not always being perfect and polished is often what makes them so entertaining). And, I'm glad I wont' have to watch them on TV Guide channel any more because that 1/4 screen b.s. drives me crazy! Same reason I stopped watching CNN.

I'll never forget a few years back when Joan Rivers asked Robert Duvall on the Oscar Red Carpet if he had ever been nominated for an Oscar before. His reply was yes I won an Oscar for the movie Tender Mercies. It took a awhile for Joan to get the foot out of her mouth.

Hahaha, thats funny. I think TV Guide Channel needs to focus more on programming and less on what E!, Extra, The Insider, ET Tonight, and all of those channel/shows focus on. I don't even watch TV Guide Channel anymore because it has only 1/4 of the screen devoted to the actual guide.
