Well, I told you about the pilot taping of The Root of All Evil and Julia actually went to the taping, but now it's official: Comedy Central has picked up the pilot, so keep your eyes peeled so you can judge the show for yourself.

Actually, don't keep your eyes peeled, because peeling your eyes actually makes your vision worse. Many people have experienced irreversible ocular damage because of that metaphor. Nasty business.

Anyway, the series is set up as a kind of mock trial in which Lewis Black (The Daily Show) presides over a courtroom of comedians who debate such topics as "Dick Cheney vs Paris Hilton" and "chick flicks vs video games." Comedians appearing on the show include Paul F. Tompkins, Andrew Daly, Greg Giraldo and Patton Oswalt.

The show is executive produced by Scott Carter of Real Time with Bill Maher along with David Sacks, a writer for The Simpsons and a former executive producer on Third Rock from the Sun.
