(S01E19) This episode we found Daniel Meade reverting back to his old womanizing, irresponsible ways, but did he really ever change? Last thing I remember, he was bedding [fill-in-the-blank-random-model]. Oh, but this time he bedded the wrong random model, didn't he? Eh, I guess that counts as personal change.

While Daniel worked on spreading his genes, Betty, as usual, worked on keeping Mode together and chasing down her boss. Is it just me or is Betty's true secret love really Daniel? She's constantly stalking him, keeping tabs on who he's sleeping with (or not), and treats him like he can't pee without her holding his goods.

Seriously, maybe Daniel's rapid decline isn't so much about Alexis taking over Mode but about Betty's constant babying to point that he's emasculated. Okay, maybe I'm reading too much into things, but look at her father and how much she nags him. He was two steps away from having Constance go Misery on his butt and she didn't do anything to help him, so is she really making a huge dent in other people's lives right now?

At this point, I think that Betty's life has hit that pivotal point where she needs to look out for numero uno. Naturally, she failed to do that by going out with Christina, but at least she made some effort, not including her hideous outfit. I was about to give up on her altogether until she finally took Daniel's advice and punched out when he sought her help.

Oh, poor Daniel. Getting caught playing house with a 16-year-old Columbian model with weird hair isn't what it's cracked up to be. How can he get out of this one unscathed? The sea of available women is going to get pretty dry once he has to register as a sex offender. That is until Betty saves day, which I'm sure she will.

As for Wilhelmina and her quest to reach the top of the Mode cake, I'm a little confused. Although I enjoyed the scene where she allowed tiny fish to eat her calloused feet, I don't see her plan to win Mr. Meade's heart working at all. Sure, any guy will take an open sex invite, but is he really going to pass the reins over to her? I think not.

Overall, there were three things I was glad about during this episode. First, I'm ecstatic that they finally ended the story line between Constance and Betty's father. I thought I would have to kill myself if I heard her call him Nacho one more time. It just wasn't believable, not that a massive sex change and Daniel being a lady-killer are believable either.

The second thing I enjoyed was the mean flirtation between Amanda and Wilhelmina's new assistant. They will have sex within the next two episodes, guaranteed.

Lastly, the cameo by Leslie Jordan playing a sexually ambiguous celebrity scandal reporter was pitch-perfect. I spent the first half hour trying to figure out if the person was a male or female before recognizing the veteran actor.

It may be nearing the end of a strange and wonderful season, but I'd say that Ugly Betty hasn't checked out like other satires (cough-Desperate Housewives) and keeps the unpredictability stepping in like a great pair of Jimmy Cho pumps.
