Burnett and MySpace join for new reality series

Reality show wunderkind Mark Burnett will be launching a reality series for both television and online audiences that seeks to find one person to serve as the political voice of young America. The series, Independent, will launch sometime early next year on MySpace, and will also be seen on television, though at this stage no network has been found for the series.

Young adults can upload videos of themselves and will then be either accepted or voted off by their peers. The point, naturally, is to get young people interested in politics and current issues. This doesn't quite fit in with my preference of having the voting age raised to 75 and having all voting polls placed in the middle of a swamp, but whatever, I'm learning to change with the times.

More seriously, I think the real question is whether this new series will actually encourage kids to get informed about everything, or whether it will try to push a certain political agenda.
