Simpsons movie news: Bart's "little Bart" and misleading trailers - VIDEO

by Adam Finley, posted Apr 25th 2007 4:04PM

simpsonsOutside of bootleg T-shirts and posters, we haven't seen much of Bart Simpsons' penis. I'm going to assume most of you are content with that, but Newsweek reports we might be seeing more of Bart than ever before in the upcoming Simpsons movie.

It's not as if cartoon wang has never been seen before: we've seen Cartman's on South Park, and another short-lived animated series on Comedy Central, Bob and Margaret, showed occasional toon frontal nudity, as well. However, the quoted Newsweek piece doesn't say anything about the audience being exposed to Bart, just that Bart exposes himself at one point (which could mean the characters in the movie catch a glimpse but we don't).

Of course, if you've been paying attention to the trailers, you know there's at least one scene where a naked Bart smacks into a window and his private area is obscured by a french fry held by Ned Flanders (see trailer below). That could be the scene in question, except that producer James L. Brooks says seventy-percent of what's in the trailers isn't in the actual movie, due to constant changes being made to the movie as each new trailer is released. Bottomline: we're probably not going to know anything until the movie actually comes out on July 27, and that's fine by me.

There's actually quite a few shots of naked Bart in the trailers so far... he's just going really fast in most of them.

Wow... I can't imagine what the budget must be like. Animation is not that cheap, and so much fully rendered, colored, shadowed animation being cut must be making the accountants frantic...

Is it sad that talk of misleading trailers makes me already excited for the DVD? I mean, if they keep changing it that much, can you imagine the amount of deleted scenes they probably have racked up?
