The Daily Show: April 25, 2007

Jon StewartHow many people in the audience do you think actually knew who Robert Loggia was when his Giant Head popped up on the screen? Because the polite applause seemed to suggest that crowd returned home after the show and had to IMDb Loggia. And yes, "IMDb" is totally a verb now.

"Extreme Makeover: Baghdad Edition": A new wall for the folks in Baghdad... and they don't seem to be too happy about it. The timing of "That wall is totally impenetrable -- oh, boy" made me laugh a little too hard. However, the Dennis Al-Menace joke caused me to feel a little foolish because there was a five second delay before I understood it.

Baghdad Bureau Chief Aasif Mandvi talked about the meaning behind the wall. The "salute to Chicano culture" was hilarious. It's funny because it's true...

"Back in Black": There was a weird moment in this segment that made me wonder just how much writing Lewis Black actually contributes, if any. During the Pimp My Ride part, he said, "BIATCH!" in a really weird way that sounded like he didn't know how it was meant to be delivered. Maybe it was just me. After all, I was rather sleep-deprived while watching. Anyway, this was a very strong "Black in Black". My favorite bit: "If your house is anything like mine -- " "Stop."

The night's guest was Garry Shandling, star of The Larry Sanders Show, promoting the Not Just the Best of the Larry Sanders Show DVD. The interview was pretty funny, and a welcome change from the heated debate between Jon and John McCain previous night.

Jon/Stephen: Ahh, elaborate comedy bits. Cute. Moment of Zen: President Bush and his... um... rhythm. Oh, my goodness.

Don't feel bad. I didn't understand it until I read this review.

I thought it was well known Lewis wasn't writing anymore of the Back in Black segments. He just performs them.

If they don't remember him from his many movies (or the Sopranos), they should at least remember him from that commercial where Robert Loggia magically appears to tell a kid how healthy orange juice with calcium is.

Was Cobert a repeat? I had a strange feeling like I watched the first half of the show before, more so "The Word" part.
