Jericho: Coalition of the Willing

by Paul Goebel, posted May 3rd 2007 7:35AM

James Remar(S01E21) Maybe I missed something but where is the freaking tank?

As the messenger from New Bern came into town, all I could think was that it's nice to see the kid from Deliverance still getting work. Sadly he brought along some real bad weather.

After watching Dale's performance tonight, I have developed a new opinion of him. He may be nuts but he's got balls of steel. It's clear that if Jericho can survive this battle, he will emerge as one of the most powerful men in town. The scene between Dale & Johnston was awesome because it showed the true nuances of the ex-mayors ability to govern. A truly great leader gets you to do things because you want to.

The writing was on the wall days ago, but it's clearly time for a recall in the town of Jericho. Thank goodness, Mayor Dumbass finally realized he was in way over his head. CBS keeps saying that someone will die in the finale and my money is on Gray.

I was wondering when Jonah was going to return. There was absolutely no way the town could defend themselves without his help. Of course, that help came at a price, but I loved it. It was one more example of the kinds of choices you are forced to make in times of crisis. I mean, after Ma Green got caught by mortar fire, Jake, Erik and Johnston were going to do whatever they needed to do to keep her and all their loved ones safe. My favorite part was when Jonah drove away with all the spoils. I expected him to turn to Emily and say, "You knew I was a snake when you let me in."

I usually don't pay attention to the previews, but I have to ask...does anyone else think Heather is coming back or was that just a Survivor-like ruse to throw us off?

rating 5Oh and one more thing, where is the freaking tank?

I give this episode a 5

Is it just me? In the episode when these guys acquired the tank, it wasn't until the very end Jake discovered that they were faked troops, that was after the citizens had already resupplied the troops with food water & FUEL. So saying that the tank has no fuel would be incorrect. It should be sitting in the barn with a full tank. I don't agree that they should pull out the trump card right away (Thanks to the incompetence of Mayor Gray) The Ace in the hole will pay off in the season finale or should I say Series finale. That said I thought the show was great!!! If CBS is dumb enough to cancel the series I'll look forwad to the Sci-Fi channel picking it up

Even beyond fuel, even beyond ammo, how about the fact that the tank is... well... SLOW. I don't think you could catch the truck with the mortars, especially without ammo.

Now, *my* question is didn't anyone think about, I dunno, sniping the mortar shells? I can't imagine that New BernHoles happen to have an actual munitions expert who, y'know, knows how to make 'official' mortar rounds...

If Johnston goes......I go. McRaney is the HEART of this show.
If they let him go, CBS is crazier than I thought.

Perhaps Maggie made it back on Johnstone's shoulders - was that her in the operating room whilst Erik sat outside?

I'm also afraid that Johnston will be the one to die. I sure hope not. When the previews said that everyone would be looking to Jake, that's just what it sounded like. But, I agree with another comment that maybe Johnston is just out of commission for a while.
The STUPID mayor should be shot! Why did Johnston, Hawkins & jake just stand there and let him send Stanley & the others to a sure death? Gray is totally outnumbered!
DUH ! I completely forgot about the TANK !!

Being a big Psych fan..i hope Constantino doesn't die.

What if Jonas comes back...i think he will..and dies and Jake takes over as leader of the rebels.

If Dale doesn't get those 2 farms to split amongst the refuges what is he going to tell them when it's over? He needs to address them now that there is no farm to share and they are fighting to stay in Jericho.

Anyone wonder if we see roger next week?

Ammunition may not be the real concern. The tank is an M1A1 Abrams (or maybe an M1A2). It uses gasoline as fuel and uses a truly prodigious amount of it. It makes a Hummer or any other SUV look like an electric car by comparison. It gets about two gallons to the mile, and no that's not a typo, it actually manages about .6 miles to the gallon. In the situation that they're in not only don't you tip your hand by using your tank to do a job that people can do, you don't want to run it for any extended distance at all if you want to be able to run any cars in town for the foreseeable future.

"The preview of Heather was from when they went to the trading post - when she looked up and saw the new flag."

Black Jack trading post? That was still in the winter and Heather was wearing her coat back then. I don't even remember her taking it off in that episode. In the preview for next week, she's in a white tee shirt and no coat. Besides, I could be wrong but I don't remember any other episodes other than next weeks where they have a flag with vertical strips.

As far as the girl Johnston was carrying back....she probably died. Hawkins said last week something about them not being able to help her and that she would slow them down. Jake said after all she (Maggie I believe) had done to help them that he was not going to leave her. She may have bled to death from her wound(s) before they could get back to Jericho.

They might not have any ammo for the tank, but just the sight of it would be enought to scare some of the a-holes from New Bern away!..
I saw the preview too and it says someone is going to die and i so hope its Mayor Dumbass.. at least he finaly realised he was WAY in over his head and finaly let Mayor Cowboy-hat come back as leader!

The preview of Heather was from when they went to the trading post - when she looked up and saw the new flag. I wonder why they would put that in? what happened to the girl Johnston carried back from new bern. Dale is going to be trouble if they have a second season. I think he started the shoot-out at the salt mine.
