Catherine Crier slams Court TV in speech

by Bob Sassone, posted May 5th 2007 3:01PM

Court TVIf you haven't heard, Catherine Crier's show has not been renewed by Court TV, so she is leaving the network. But not before getting in a few digs.

In a speech to lawyers in Florida, Crier says she is sad to hear that Court TV (which is changing its name, by the way) is no longer going to cover trials on TV. It will be a web-only feature. Instead, the network is changing its entire lineup, and Crier says it will be "a lot of explosions, a lot of car chases, a lot of cops, a lot of beach babes."

I'm surprised that the network is getting rid of their trial coverage, since it was one of the features that really made their network stand out from anyone else.

Well, I, too, will be taking Court TV off my programmed list of favorites. Star Jones?? Give me a break. And like we need any more (carefully edited) "reality" shows. What a crock.

What are they thinking! Are there not enough garbage channels on TV already? Enough of the so-called reality shows that are no more than disgusting?
CourtTV was one of the few channels that still had interesting, up-to-the-minute, true "reality" on TV. And, now we are losing that.
I watch CourtTV daily during the day for trial coverage and, until recently, most of the primetime features also. I loved Suburban Secrets, Til Death Do Us Part, Forensic Files, The Investigators, etc. Now all there is are the ridiculous "reality" that you can't tell one segment from another because they are all the same.
Let's hope that someone with some sense will take over and form a "new" CourtTV and give us some real content.

I love court tv trail coverage. That is why I watch it. I miss Catherine. I can't believe they are changing their daytime trail coverage to junk. I have watched court tv for ten years, no more

My favorite show "off the air?" I know lots of people who just like me, loved to watch Catherine Crier and especially live courtroom. What are they thinking? Now its all about COPS and ROBBERS I certainly won't be watching that stuff I loved it the way it was. I am sad! Live SOAP is what I called it and I am guessing that more women watched it than men. I gave up the soap I used to watch everyday to watch courtroom drama. Bring it back!

I am disappointed in the decision to change court tv programming. I too was an avid fan of the live trials and loved Ashley Banfield. The fact that you didn't bother to inform viewers of theses changes shows your lack of respect for faithful viewers. I will not watch court tv and certainly will not pay to watch it on the internet.

From class to trash. What a shame. Once my favorite shows to watch. I often said what would I do without Court TV. Well I have found out. I will survive. I haven't watched since Catherine Crier left. Catherine where are you? We need you. The Crier wire was the best commentaries on TV. I hope you will come back to us somewhere.

I cannot for the life of me understand why you cancelled catherine crier live. i so looked forward to watching her everyday at 5pm. now that nancy grace has left, i'm following her to headline news.

catherine was not only a beautiful woman but just as professional and very honest. i can understand change, but if you have cancelled catherine crier live to put on a bunch of nonsense, you can forget about me watching your tv station. furthermore, why would court tv not have trial coverage. what are you people thinking? you are a bunch of idiots especially if you change the name.

COURT TV is making a HUGE mistake if it decides to get rid of the Trial coverage.

I am seeing a lot of changes with Court TV since Catherine Crier left and I do not like what I see.

I URGE COURT TV to continue with it's trial coverage.

You have got to be kidding. I have been an avid fan of Court Tv since OJ's famous Bronco ride. Now you are changing the programming & you got rid of Cathrine. I'm gone, see ya.
Please let me know where Cathrine ends up. I did not agree with her politically, but she brought a lot to the table.

Court TV has totallly missed the mark. We LOVE Catherine Crier. I will not watch cops, crashes, chases, or anything with Star Jones. Nancy Grace has no class. She's too RUDE! And the live court coverage with your grade A correspondents - why would you possibly want to change what we all love! We can get reality junk anywhere. Come back to your senses.
